Makita radio mod

I've been trying to find a post about a person who modified a Makita job site radio. I bought a Makita radio for hurricane Sandy because my Dewalt doesn't work off the batteries anymore. I have a number of 18v Makita batteries from other tools that came in handy since we lost power for three days. The radio was the only source of local news. I think the poster made the radio charge batteries which is what I want to do. Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need a flux capacitor hooked up to your radio to make it charge batteries. ???

I had one, but it only received Mexican radio stations.  I threw it out.
