Makita vs Kapex

Yesterday I had the opportunity to use the new Makita miter saw.  I own a Kapex and CT 26 and the Makita I used was plumbed to a Rigid shop vac.  I believe the dust collection of the Makita exceeds the Kapex. The saw was in use by two workers cutting interior trim for 8 hours and there was zero noticeable dust on the floor.  If my limited observations are correct in the long term, I think will will see a redesign of the Kapex (with a motor that does not go poof).

I've had my Kapex for about two or more years now without any problems. I've been reading a lot of horror stories about problems but alas....nada. Last year we moved and my Kapex was stored in a portable bin, it ended up falling head first onto the steel floor from about five feet. Still works great, no deviation from 90. I would add I got. One on the recon sale. If I hadn't, I was looking at the Makita back then. Great saw. The new one looks amazing.

What a bin!

Is this some new model makita have just released? I'm guessing it must be cos my makita has been designed to throw as much dust as possible all over the place- drives me mad as it's otherwise a fairly good piece of kit

That is probably wishful thinkin cause FT won't / hasn't admitted there is a problem.  [tongue]

[member=42364]tony_sheehan[/member] - Makita does have a new saw. Read all about here :http://festoolownersgroup.com/other-tools-accessories/best-miter-saw-options/
If there is a redesign, I think the only visible change will be the dust collection to mimic the Makita.  All other changes will be internal and unseen.
