Maximum torque drilling with a T15

My new T15 drill has stalled while drilling 3/4 inch holes in pine and I was wondering if I am missing something about the drill. I am an electrician and need to drill alot of holes in framing. I bought this drill for the 90 degree capabilities but if that is all it does then I have a problem. Btw, my Makita finished the job easily both times. And yes, the battery was fully charged.

Did you have it on speed 2?

I've used my (former) C 12 and current T 15 with both spade bits and self-feed bits to make a lot of holes for wiring.

When I fist got my t15 i tested it with the right angle and a 2"holesaw smooth as butter

Did you put the top selector switch on drilling? The first time I encountered your problem I thought blimey?!?! and then noticed I had it still on the screwing position instead of drilling. Makes all the difference.

I sure does, it takes the electronic clutch out of the equation.

Craig,

I think Alex nailed it. Make sure the drill is in drill mode not screw mode using the selector switch on top. That setting overrides the clutch and provides maximum torque. I know I have easily run 1-1/2" augers with the T12. So a 3/4" hole in pine should be a breeze for the T15.

I must be doing something wrong. Yes it was on speed 2.

I generally get better performance in speed one when drilling framing lumber with spade or auger bits.
