McFeely's screw assortment in a Sortainer

Has anybody tried the screw assortment (pocket screws) that McFeely's offers with a sortainer option?

My first thought was : Way Cool

On second thought:

- Can easily see a random screw "popping up" and hanging up to jam the drawer from opening
- Not sure I'd really use all the different sized they offer, maybe better to just fill it myself....

Thoughts?

This really doesn't get to your question but I have purchased two of the Mcfeely's Systainer screw assortments.  I had the same thought about the screws hanging up in the little drawers in a Sortainer -- real or imagined I don't know.  Also, I like to be able to scan all of the screw assortment in the Systainer to find the ones that I want. 

I guess another point that I would make is that I've come to prefer the GRK Torx head screws because of cam-outs with the square drives.

I got the McFeelys Sortainer, and I am pretty happy with it. They gave me a second assortment of screws in addition to the set in the Sotrainer, and by the time I had everything in there I still had five or six drawers open for more gubbins. I did need an extra set of dividers for the drawers.

If you're interested I could take pics of how I broke things down. Haven't lived with it very long yet, but it's working OK so far.

You do indeed have to be careful about overstuffing and jamming the drawers. Mine doesn't get banged around much, so it hasn't been an issue for me.

+1 on the GRK screws!  Those things are really strong, too.

I've ordered both the Sortainer version and they Systainer 1 version and prefer the Systainer 1 version with the bins so much more.  I get frustrated with the Sortainer because the longer screws always hang up inside the drawers.  I'll pull and the drawer won't slide out, which is a major annoyance.  One time I pulled and the stuck screw shifted, thus causing me to dump the screws all over the place.

The Sortstainer works great with small screws but the big ones not so much.  Also I like the Systainer 1 because I can see all the screws.  I end up opening all the drawers in the Sortstainer when looking for the perfect sized screw.  It's a minor thing but nonetheless a plus for the Systainer 1 configuration. 

If I order another set, it will definitely be the Systainer 1 version.

I agree with the above that the Box Sys 1 is more user friendly.  Wait for the T-loc version, its a big improvement as the boxes are locked into place even when one or more have been removed.  I also prefer the size assortment of boxes.

I agree that GRK's are the best, but feel they are overkill many times.  Why pay the premium for an exterior fastener for interior projects?  Also think square drives are sufficient for low torque applications like pocket screw joinery.  The Mcfeeley deal is a good one, you get a lot of screws for a small price.

+ 2 thumbs up on the Sys1 box for screws.  I have two of them.  One is my “Primary” fasteners group.  The other is other more random stuff, “Secondary” fasteners, as it were.

You can alter the box configuration, so there’s a lot of flexibility for organizing.  For example, I have many orange boxes, with screws as small as #6x1/2” .  All the way up through 3” SS deck screws in a big green box.  The ease of taking the specific box out is a plus.  With the foam lid top (its included) I’ve never had any screws shift around.
