We're maybe a decade away from going on Amazon (or festolproducts.com  ;D ;) ) ordering an items "blueprints" and printing out the item on your kitchen table.

Yeah , I'd love to have a 3D printer right now
but this tech is moving ssoooooo fast that by the time I buy one & then figure out how to use it will obsolete. I'll wait with baited breath for just now [popcorn]
 
3d printers can be had today for home use in the $1000 range.  3d systems has one called the cube for $1300 or so.
 
Be an interesting animal if it could make pieces to upgrade itself ...

THAT's just creepy.

I heard an interesting argument regarding the evolution of AI refuting why / how "the machines" would want to conquer us, evolve, enslave us, etc.  They're objective.  No emotion, no feeling.  They'd have no human desire or need to be #1, rule and become all powerful.

That was then quickly refuted by: "Ya, but we're the ones programming them."
