I happened to be in the Woodcraft in Downingtown PA today and Met Tom Loveless from festool who was there talking to customers.  Tom was very enlightening about some features of festool products I have and I got to look at the festool tape and countersinks up close and really liked both.  The most interesting thing he showed me however was not festool.  He had a little plastic folding rule made by stabila that was cool.  It was just perfect for the shop.  Problem is he indicated it's only avail in Germany and not sold in the us.  Any of you folks out there seen this little gem and can you point me to a source that could get it in the us?  It was a great measure.

Glad to hear you had a good time. Our local dealer had a demo day today. I had to go look at buildings instead of having some fun. If you talking about the white/green folding ruler that says festool on it, the local dealer here in Chicago has them. I think they went on sale 11-1. That wood ruler used to be the norm when I was growing up. That's before the stanley 25'er took over.

The search button is your friend.

no kidd'n tried that no luck.  You can find the serries 600 which is what I use to call a brick mason size rule.  This one was very small plastic and very handy.  I've had no trouble finding the stabila 600 series but the 1000 or 1100 series is the one I'm hoping for.

No this ruler is made by stabila was white plastic with black lettering and is made by stabila.  Tom indicated one of the dudes from Festool was over from Germany and he had one.  Some how he got his hands on a few but I don't have any german contacts.  Was hoping that I could find a source in the Us.  Just taking a shot someone here might know of one.

Try www.stabila.de
You can check the website in English. I don't believe they are exporting metric rulers from Germany to the USA. For the USA they sell rulers in imperial units, indeed model 600.

Was it like this?

Stabila sells 5 different folding rulers in the 'States. They are made of beech and all kind of look like this:

They also sell a series of really nice measuring tapes that all kind of look like this:

There's also a company out of the UK, FISCO, that sells some plastic folding rulers with 4 segments and are 2 meters. One looks like the following and one is white. They also make some nice tapes.

I received a shipment earlier today with about 30 Stabilas. People really like them. Their nice.

It looks as though you're talking about the 1004 and 1007, and the 1104 and 1107 rules:

Being all metric, I guess there isn't much demand for them in the US and you may have to import it.

http://www.stabila.co.uk/ is where I got the above screenshot from, and they have a list of Stabila stockists in the UK. If you send some e-mails to a selection of stockists, you should hopefully find one that has the rule you want, and is happy to ship to the USA.

Indeed, Powertool Direct has the 1004 on their website for 4.51 GBP incl VAT, and the 1007 for 5.55 GBP. It's not totally clear whether they are happy to send abroad though - one sentence starts by saying "We can only deliver to UK mainland addresses,..." but in the same breath continues "...please call for rates to non-mainland addresses before placing your order"! (In case you're not familiar with our geography, we have quite  a lot of islands, for example Shetland and Orkney which are to the north of mainland UK, and postage to these outlying places can be higher and take longer than normal).

bonesbr549 , I met Tom at Byrnes Machine in W. Chester Pa, not far from the Woodcraft store. You are right, he is a cool rep! He speaks well and knows his product line inside out. I enjoyed talking with him, a real asset to Festool.
