Method to connect jobsite tablesaws to Festool DC

Hi all

I've always been frustrated with cleanup after using my jobsite tablesaw (I use a Dewalt 745).  I can hook it up to a shopvac, but I never bring a vac that large on my jobs.

I was poking around Bosch vac hoses and found the "VAC004" for connecting 2-1/2" tool ports to the Bosch 35mm hose.

I ordered one (it's cheap) and am happy to report that my Festool 27mm hose plugs right in!  [thumbs up]
I don't have a Festool 36mm hose to test, but would guess that it would also work.

i have the dw745 and stand
i use my ct22 and the 50mm 1 meter hose from the boom arm . everything fits perfectly.
i have to praise dewalt on the design of the dc on that saw. it works great , even without the hose most of the dust goes out the dc port.
i forgot to turn on the vac once (vac is 220v , saw is 110v) adn the saw fired to dust down the 50mm hose and filled it up until dust started poring out everywhere

one thing i sometimes do on sites that dust doesnt matter (usually messy before i get there type places) .
i i have a short length of 65mm dc hose , it is really flexable type.
i put a trash can or large box under the back of the saw and drop the end of the hose into it. it fires the dust down into the can perfectly

I recently purchased a Dewalt 7480 and I'm looking for similar DC options for it.  I tried the Bosch VAC004 adapter.  It fits perfectly into the dust port on the saw, but the outer diameter of the 35mm end seems just slightly too large for the Festool 36mm hose to connect to it.  I can force it on, but it's definitely deformed/enlarged *just* enough that I worry that this might permanently cause problems to the connector on the Festool hose.

I guess I'm curious about a few things:

1. am I really risking potential damage of the Festool 36mm hose end?

2. how flexible is that end?  Assuming I'm not leaving it connected to the VAC004 for days/weeks at a time, will the shape just "shrink" back to it's correct size?

3. If I stick with the VAC004, is using the 27mm hose sufficient for DC on something like this or am I just waiting for frustration to occur?

4. should I just ditch the idea of usine the VAC004 with a 36mm hose and go grab a Festool 50mm?

My experience with dust collection would tell me that the 27mm hose would not generate sufficient air movement to pull the dust and chips effectively into the collector. Would a 50mm hose fit on the saw port? What about on the vac end? If so, that might be a better option. More air movement. I don't know if Festool sells a longer version of the 50mm. The only 50mm I know of is the section that comes with the boom arm set to go between the vac and the hose on the over arm. That's not very long.

Others may know more about whether a 27 mm hose would work. It just seems a little small to move enough air for a table saw.

I suppose eventually.

It should just return to the original diameter. It's essentially the same fit more or less that is used in connecting the stainless wands of the installer/workshop to the hose end.

27mm will work but I doubt you'll be happy with it. A lot of the dust that doesn't make it into the hose will find another route.

Yes, or just buy a Ridgid hose kit. The supplied ends in the kit, not the ones shown on the hose plug into the vacuum and the other should fit a standard 2.25" dust outlet.

Thanks guys.

I'll work with the VAC004 with the 36mm hose for now then and see how it goes.

I keep several different sizes of Firmco sleeves in a drawer.  The only problems i have not worked out is DC on my Hitachi SCMS and on my WoodRat.  I can capture some dust from each, but it seems less frustrating to just sweep up the dust now and then than to keep trying to figure a foolproof method to capture all, or even a portion, of the dust those two spit out.  I use either one so seldom that it is not a big problem.  Just a nuisance

I have noticed some have hooked up The DW saws to a DC unit.  Were they using a Festoy CT or some other brand of DC?

I had a slightly different issue on hoses.  I bought a TS55, but decided to hold off on getting a CT dust extractor.  (Had just bought a Laguna 2HP cyclone for the shop to replace regular shop vacs, and a bit apprehensive to tell my wife I needed to spend an additional $500 or so for another little "shop vac". )  ;)

I got the Bosch VAC005 5m hose from Amazon, and it fit perfectly between the track saw, and my Ridgid shop vac with standard 2-1/2" port.  Works great.  I'll get a Festool CT at some point, certainly when I decide to go down to Festool sander road.

I have the Dewalt 7480.  The CT's 50mm hose fits perfectly.

Dan.

I have one of those orange Mr. Nozzle hoses from Amazon, with the black female adapter on both ends. They press fit into my DeWalt 745 and inside the CT dust port, as well as slipping over the UDD port after I lopped about 3/4" off of it. Works fine.

Their accessories also slip right over the stock 27MM CT hose ends. While I don't think they advertise the hose to be AS I have never been zapped using it.

Does kinda clash with all the green tho...  [oops]
