Metric Corner Rounding Jig - the Alternative OTT

I am considering offering my alternative to the red OTT.  This metric precision jig can be used with a router table or handheld router to get a precise 90mm radius on a corner of your choosing.  The mitered stops are specifically designed with the use of the dust collection shroud on the Festool router system allowing smooth router movement throughout the cut.  The jig is constructed of only the highest quality low cost MDF and B grade Baltic birch ply.  Finish is natural as it is non-existent therefore, more environmentally friendly.  Note the exquisite graphite stenciling of the radius on the face of the jig.

This jig was in the making for 1-1/2 years (because I made it a year and a half ago).  Pricing for the one piece set would normally be $69 but since it is specifically designed for use with Festool routers and is a one time tool, the introductory price is $269 delivered.

But hurry, quantities are limited (only one available) as this jig is truly a one time tool well: because I have only made it one time.

I hope you have enjoyed this spoof.

I'm new. First post...

Doesn't this belong in the Classifieds section?

;)

Welcome to the forum.  This is a spoof or jab at a recently announced Woodpecker OneTime tool.

No, April 1 is  when there will be a price rise!  [eek] [big grin]
[member=761]Steve Rowe[/member] , has [member=13058]Kev[/member] contacted you regarding Australian Agency for 'one time' export opportunities? [smile]

[member=19746]Untidy Shop[/member] [member=761]Steve Rowe[/member] sorry I'm slow off the mark - I'm flat out in a resort, eating and drinking is exhausting work.

Steve, I estimate initial Australian demand to be massive, Untidy alone will want at least 50! Do you think you can engage your Chinese manufacturers and meet demand before April 1st.

It may be presented as a spoof, but it is well executed and something which has some worth.
Basically I like it.

[size=13pt][member=13058]Kev[/member] as you have ordered 50 units on my behalf, can I assume that as the Australian importer you have appointed me as a 'Premium Dealer'. * [big grin]

I'm glad to see that you have engineered this tool to fit into the Festool dust extraction system.  This is a terrific one-time feature, but I need a 3 1/2" radius.  I see an opportunity to create a radius collection, with one-time tooling for each one.  Or perhaps a custom radius service, with the corresponding premium pricing, of course.  (If a person had two, would they be radii or radiuses?)

Since Festool is now moving to imperial, you need to offer a version with a new graphite stenciling of "3.543in", and tack on $15.

better get some demo models to the usual suspects so they can bless it on the utube

Ha, I'll take -10 sets. I particularly like the graphite marking.

OTT?
Is that a "One time tool" or "Over The Top" price?

PRE-ORDERS SUSPENDED:
Due to incredible demand, all Pre-orders on the Alternative OTT have been suspended.  In just a matter of hours, demand has outstripped the supply by over 6000%.  My apologies to those who may have been on the fence about ordering such a fine jig and have missed out.  The marketing manager (Steve) has been demoted (I could not fire him 11 days before Christmas) and replaced with a different Steve.

I have been in meetings all day with the production manager (Steve) and the procurement manager (Steve) who has advised me that there is a shortage of low cost high quality MDF as a result may not be able to fulfill all orders in a timely fashion.  They both blame the marketing manager for grossly underestimating the demand and overpromising delivery.  Knowledge of the pending MDF demand has apparently leaked out and has affected the supply stream.  Our company has apparently been hacked and information leaked to Wikileaks so we have resorted to use tin foil hats and mental telepathy to communicate in lieu of the normal talking amongst ourselves until our Faraday cage can be constructed.

The head of our legal department is also investigating reports of dealers who are selling these on Amazon and eBay for more than the advertised special introductory pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
1) Will a systainer be available?  YES, a systainer will be available with a custom hand carved Kaizen foam insert for a small phenomonal fee.
2) If I order now, will I get it in June?  NO, per the announcement above, you can't order now.  If you already have placed your order, we were going to deliver immediately but if you wish, we can delay shipment until June.
3) Since the new Festool routers have stick on Imperial scales, can you provide an Imperial scale on the jig?  YES, a high quality stick on Imperial measurement can be provided at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE upon request.  There is no charge since our R&D department has tested this and it wears off after the first use.
4) Can I use a Metric scale router with the metric jig?  YES but, you will not achieve the desired level of confusion with intermixing different measurement systems.
5) Can I use Imperial size bits with the metric jig?  YES, our R&D department has determined that both metric and imperial bit sizes will work with this jig.
6) Can you provide a custom size radius?  YES, but that would be a different OTT.
7) Will you make this jig again?  NO - that is why we called it a One Time Tool and not a Two Time Tool.
8. Will there be an April 1st price increase?  NO, we feel our clients would view that as a joke.

[eek]
Hey- you can't just make this stuff up, or maybe you can.  Any similarities of this offering to actual events that may have occurred on this Forum recently is purely coincidental.

Steve

Darn it, I missed the pre order period, but at least I was able to order the GL (Good Laugh)!

Festool have been releasing tools in the UK in 240v only recently. Please also make it available in 110v.

Our engineering department indicates that this jig is suitable for use up to 240v.  They did express concern with using this with  higher voltage tools as the arc flash expected from universal motor brushes has a tendency to set things on fire.
