Hi There

I need a router primarily (at this time) to trim off laminate edging trim - the type used when re-edging laminate post-formed-worktop.  I have the oportunity to purchase the MFK 700 at a favourable price.  I know this router is somewhat over the top for this work and Festool do a more suitable OFK 500.  Unfortunately they do not do the later in 110volt (UK) which is my prefered choice.  My questions are will the MFK do the job well, what router bit do you use, what else is this router good for?  Also any other options to do the job - including manual tools - that anyone has experience with?

Thanks

I've used the MFK to trim laminate and it did an exceptional job. I used this bit and it rounder over the edge as well so I didn't have to file

Router bit

Just be careful not to tip the router. Made that mistake  :(

FWIW, the Boom arm is great when trimming laminate tops to prevent the dust extractor hose from snagging. I didn't have the boom arm and had a friend deal with the hose.

Troll,

Regarding other options for the MFK 700, be sure to read Jerry Works tutorial on the MFK 700 by going tohttp://www.jerrywork.com/
....(go to tutorials and scroll down four tutorials.)

If you don't have a boom arm "yet", a bungi cord to a hook in the ceiling above where you are working holding your hose would be a temporary fix.

.....and somewhere on this site Eiji Fuller once presented a creative track option in place of a boom arm, above a large workbench.

cheers,
Roger

It also works pretty well for me to put the hose and cord over my shoulder.

I believe that was demonstrated in the OF 2200 Video as well and is quite effective
