Developing a detachable plunge base with micro adjustment depth control for the MFK 700 Modular Trim router would greatly expand the tools capability and utility.  Is Festool working on any new accessories for the MFK 700 that would meet or exceed this function?

Welcome to the Festool Owners Group!

The MFK700 already has a detachable base with micro adjustment, albeit with only 14mm of travel.

What sort of applications were you needing it for, and where does the MFK700 fall short?

I want to be able to use my MFK 700 Modular Trim router to do much more inlay work such as string and berry work, decorative inlay, and more significant detail work that would greatly expand the use of the MFK.  Currently I move away from the MFK to perform the about types of activities instead of it being the first tool that I reach for as I do with all other FESTOOl products that I own.

Michael,

I think that Microfence makes stuff for the MFK 700 that will accomplish what you are trying to do.  Here is a link to their website.  http://microfence.com/

Wayne and others have posted here that their website can be a little daunting to understand, and that it might be best to call them and talk to them about what you are trying to accomplish so that they can sort out the pieces and parts required.

Microfence has adapters for attaching the MFK700 to the guide rail.  They also have circle attachements.    I have them for the MFK700 and the 1010.

Unfortunately, they don't offer the precision 3-axis base for the MFK700.

Agree that calling them on Monday is your best bet.

I have contacted Microfence  (ayear ago) in regards to them making a plunge base for the MFK700.  Unfortunately, due to the irregular shape of the router, the process to manufacure this would be too daunting for them.

While the MFK700 is a great router, it is designed as a modular machine, and the module that it most requires to colplete its usefullness, in my opinion, is a plunge base that affords good visibility to the bit for inlay work.

While the 1010 is a good router for inlay work, I never would have purchased one if the MFK700 gave me some visibility.
