MFSC workbench

Tim,
Very innovative design!  You have inspired other storage solutions in my shop and this will be another one to add.  I just ordered the combo kit- I'm hoping another use I can gain is an out-feed table for my cabinet saw, so I have stopped plans for that build as of now.

Regards,
Gerald

[member=65062]DynaGlide[/member] Indeed I will, however I'll start with a video showing the use better. Then I'll compile the build videos.
I just checked, I have a total of 347 shots, 47 giga of video on the MFSC. Fun evenings ahead.

[member=10829]Timtool[/member] That's great. Some of us need a little hand holding to get going on a project like this. While you're at it make a video for the MFTC build too  [big grin] I have the plans for both projects just haven't had the time or the space to get around to them.

Plans purchased!  This is absolutely phenomenal.  I've been procrastinating on making a new outfeed table for my table saw.  Now I'm happy I did.  Can't wait to comb through the instructions.

Tim- are you going to let us know what the spinny CXS thing was for - or have I missed that somewhere?

That was to make a composed shot where the MFSC turns on itself while transforming onit's own seamlessly, I made the shots and they worked but in the end I thought it added nothing to the video so I didn't use it lol.

Just got the plans from you, Tim.  Don't really have a place for it now but I will make room.  It will be a great addition to the shop.  Thanks Tim for your great idea and making the plans for it too.

Bought the plans. Not planning to build, but — boyscout etcetera — I am prepared in case… Also, I like to support innovation (viz. the 150 apps on my Mac that I paid for, but never use).

As we say here in Boston, MA: "Wicked Awesome!"

What is the dovetail jig that you use? I haven't seen one of that style before.

[member=64998]PaulH99[/member] It's the Trend DC400, licensed by Akeda. I like it because you can space the dovetails in 2,5mm increments. I build certain furniture in series so I need to be able to make the exact same drawers with the same settings hundreds of times through the years while making sure that the bottom or slide groove fall exactly in between. I think it's the only jig out there that can do that.

[member=10829]Timtool[/member] That is seriously cool. I have never heard of that brand/model. Too bad I'm just about done with my current project or I would get on their waiting list for the next production run. $660 for the 16" model + accessories isn't that much more than I spent on a Leigh Super, and is quite a bit less than a Leigh D4R! And you're right: none of the Leigh jigs have any repeatability over time. You have to reset the "fingers" for each job. I usually resort to a steel ruler and writing down the measurements, but even that isn't perfect.

trend apparently has discontinued them and I always heard Akeda was not available due to their factory burning down. I think I paid under €350 for mine 7 years ago.
Jigs with fixed spacings are terrible if you want your drawers to look good, and the Leigh, though being the ultimate jig, wouldn't work for me. I always make spare drawer parts in case anything goes wrong, I can reuse them in the next batch even if I changed the settings in between.

I bought the plans, now if I remember correctly, some people have 3D printers, it would be great if we could get templets printed for the lifting parts since those are the critical ones.

Tim,  I have been watching you MFSC developing int this thread. I have been trying to find some method to use a table that can be  set to varying height and use for storage for projects and can be moved around in a small area. You most recent video displays pure genius.  I don't have space to take advantage  of the full capabilities of you workbench, but if I retire from landscaping biz, I will get rid of much equipment currently stored/used from my barn. A couple of those benches would be perfect then.

I never thought of a 3D printer. But I was thinking about talking to my brother who works at a machine shop to see if he’d be able to make a program to run them on a CNC. I was thinking about using Baltic Birch for the lifting mechanism

Well since the release there have been contacts from all around, so it looks like some things may be set in motion. But I don't want to spoil anything at this point.
