MFT/3 Leg removal?

This may be the dumbest question asked on this forum but the answer has me totally baffled.

After 3 months of waiting I finally got a new set of legs to replace the ones that were damaged during the delivery of the MFT/3 to me.
So I've loosened the two knobs that tighten the legs. After they are loose, I presume you have to continue turning to release the bolt? Problem is, after a few turns the knobs become tight again and cannot be persuaded to turn further.
What am I doing wrong?

Regards

Look at the knobs closely. See the little slot, very small, see the seam, they are made in two pieces. Pop off the cover, it is about 1/2 the knob. Inside you will see the nut  you have to loosen and twist off.

Do not be afraid to just pop off the covers they will not break.

For an illustrated guide to what Nick is describing, see my post from 2007 (although that is an MFT1080, not a MFT3).

As they say a  picture is worth a thousand words. Sweet pics Forrest. I have all 4" x 4" wood legs on my MFT's now. The carriage bolts fit perfectly in the corner brackets.

Thank you all very much.

These legs have been a nightmare and I was beginning to think the saga would continue!
