Hello!

First time posting a question here. I just received and set up the new MFT/3 table. This is my first Festool experience and I'm excited to get started. After setting it up per instructions on YouTube (see below) I was shocked to see the miter fence is not square to the guide rail. I know how to square it and I'll do that but, c'mon, how can such an expensive precision tool not be calibrated at the factory? I guess my question is, is this typical? Has anyone else had to do this?

I didn't mess with the set screw stops for the guide rail. And it was all assembled very methodically and carefully. Thanks!

UPDATE: after moving the miter rail out from under the guide rail and checking square with the guide rail flat on the surface it looks to be dead on. Hmmm, weird. I guess I better figure out what the *bleep* I'm doing before I post on the forum. Check out that youtube video, though, if you're buying the table. It's very helpful.

I use the holes on the surface of the table to align the rail  and fence to...  just make sure the cut line goes exactly along the let or right side of  the holes  at every intersection ...  same  with fence .  You could also  put a 20mm peg into  the  holes at  both ends and line up  with  them.  ::)

that video was very informative, the question i have is why the hell didn't festool make a video like that and include it in the mft box on dvd?

Intermnod this is a known issue for years and you will find loads of stuff on this forum and the internet about it.

I do agree with you especially with the higher prices of the newer MFT3 and another price increase coming(is that for the MFT3 too?).

I never use the fence at all and still love the tables though. If you do use the fence using the holes is the way to go.

Big thanks to the posters here  :)
I have just got a MFT3 as a Christmas Present, found the manual a bit of a challenge!
Logged to this Forum and found these posting and the Youtube Link.
Why oh why don't Festool provide this info?
Thanks once again
John
