Interesting extrusions on the side. Appears there is a heavy duty "brace" for the miter guide. Although the corner leg brace casting appears to be lighter in weight. You can still side clamp vertical pieces but there is no
T track at the top as it is replaced by the "v" groove. I would hope there are a number of jigs, clamp attachments to use this v groove. The middle track seems to be like the current where  you can hook up more than one table. With the height difference to the current MFT it seems coupling to the current tables may not work.

As with most new improved tools it will take a little time to get used to this and to give it some more thought.

That fence is almost identical to the stock CMS fence.

Looks so to me. The same V-groove as the KPAEX, CMS, Precisio CS50 and CS70.

Way back when we discussed using the LA650 fence (from the Basis system), we seemed to have preempted the use of that fence (with V-Groove mounting block instead of rectangular mounting block) with the MFT as it is soon to be. I put this bit on our site to illustrate the idea back then. It looks like Festool have done as such, but should have fixed to potential problem of stability with side rail clamp component.

My observation of the image below, is the MDF top is thinner. I look forward to further information to see if this is correct, and if so, what support the MFT3 may have to compensate for the top sagging under load.

  So Anthony, does the CMS fence miter both ways? What other accessories to you think might fit the MFT3 that fit the CMS, existences maybe?  And it doesn't look to like the MDF is thiner, but it is hard to tell.

I use my 1080 for ripping all the time and would really like to see and MFT that is a bit longer, not shorter.  I often am ripping at the maximum length and width and would like a slightly larger MFT.  Any chance of that?

thanks for sharing the pics looks good, I am glad I just bought the mft1080 last friday.  now I will have to buy this one also.  but since it is lighter I will use the new one to transport from job to job and keep the other in my shop
