MFT INFO

Well, the Kapex crown stops will fit it, and any of the old BASIS system acc's. I think that fence does go (miter) both ways.

Come to think of it, the CMS side, front, back, and sliding tables will probably fit it as well.

nevermind, the legs wouldn't fit the CMS table supports.

So Anthony, does the CMS fence miter both ways? What other accessories to you think might fit the MFT3 that fit the CMS, existences maybe?  And it doesn't look to like the MDF is thiner, but it is hard to tell.

Hi Brice,

The CMS fence does mitre both ways, and the one in the MFT3 image looks like it will as well.

Have a look at this page of CMS accessories. I think the following accessories should fit the MFT3, or be adapted to fir the FMT3:
Ripping-cut fence (LA)
Extension table (VB-CMS)
Sliding table (ST)

And the crown moulding stops and telescopic extension for the KAPEX could also be a goer with the MFT3.

here is the piture of the mft 1080 I just bought and put it in my shop, or is that my dining room!  I have a 12x20 shop outside in my shed building, but need more room so I set up my assembley and festool area in my dining room (have no fear my routing area is around the corner in the kitchen dinnette area.  when you have a big unisaw, band, sander etc takes lots of room  so WTF

I have finally seen the pix.  I have the LA 650 and love it.  Only gripe has been about an end stop with a longer fence.  Looks like they have that right.  The LA 650 is a dynomite fence!

I have extensions, but really like having a longer table .  Maybe they'll come out with a MFT 4 that is bigger!?!

I just looked at the CMS extensions - they look pretty cool to me - mayhaps I should have waited for all the info instead of whining... ::)

Extension wings of course. ;)

Yeah, those extension wings will need a way to mount the Guide Rail brackets, or won't be of great use on longer rips MFT style...

I was really hoping for about a 28 x 60  work surface. Oh well. The v groove is cool but now you loose the ability to clamp from the top of the rail. I guess ill keep working with my 2 jumbos.

BASIS accessories will not fit. They need the V-Groove mounting block instead of rectangular mounting block.

Bob,

Since the MFT3 and MFT1080 differ in size by only 2 inches of work surface, this would seem to suggest that the MFT1080 might eventually be discontinued.  Are you aware of any such plans?  If not, I for one would have preferred that a additional model to the MFT line to be a table sustantially larger than the MFT1080.

Regards,

David

Bob-

Any thoughts/word as to price?

Clint,

No word yet, but I would imagine/guess that whatever price it will retail for, this, table, like all new Festool tools, will be offered at a lower Introductory Price for a given period of time.

Hi,

Yes, that is my first reaction. They made it smaller than the 1080?  ??? So it has 3" LESS capacity?

Seth

That thunder on the horizon is the stamped to get the last 1080's :D

Look at the second picture closely, there is a V-groove in the top of the new extrusion.

David,

The MFT 1080 is discontinued.

Hmmm.  The MFT3 is SMALLER than the MFT1080???  I expected larger, especially with the lighter weight.

From the photo it appears that the attachment mechanisms for the guide rail are the same as the old style MFT's.  Is there any word on the snugness of the squaring peg being improved or is it the same as the old model?

It looks like the fence is too short to allow it to be turned 90 degrees and span the width of two MFT's.  I have a double MFT1080 configuration and use a 55" rail to make much deeper cross-cuts.  I wonder if the MFT3 fence is available in a longer version for that sort of application?

David, I totally missed that the fence is shorter?? How is the short fence going to affect your setup, why won't the shorter one work?

I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the new miter 180 degree gauge and the extension it has to allow for some travel coming out the back. Not sure yet.

Yes, I know, but the BASIS system's profile doesn't have that V-groove, but a rectangular groove on top (same as MFT1 and MFT2).  Any accessory that used that groove will thus not fit the new MFT3.

I've uploaded the MFT3 pictures to the gallery, it anyone wants to save or use them in a post. Product Gallery, Temporary Album. MFTs don't yet have an album.

Thanks Brice for bringing my attention to the need for a new album.
I just created an album for MFTs in the Product Gallery.  With the MFT3 on the way, I hope we'll have several images to put there!  If anyone spots photos of the MFT3, please share them.
