new to the group and festool family....i have ts55req and got a 3000 mill track the 1800 track the parallel track guides and the mft3 table...i only cut 3/4 ply and 3/4 (1 inch stock)...for the mft3 table what depth should the ts55 be set up for a correct depth of cut in mm to set the saw at???...i am a weekender and do closet build-ins/book shelf/cabinets and such...got rid of my table saw and incra 5000 sled...took up too much real estate in the garage...this site is a great place for info any other tips for the mft3 would also help and be welcomed...i searched a bit, but could not find exactly what i was looking for...

A great tip is that the current tip  for cutting 3/4 material is to take your saw and move the depth stop lever to the bottom (max).  Then use the Fastfix and plunge your saw until it locks.  Then slide your depth stop up until it stops.  Undo the Fastfix and VIOLA!

Try it.  You'll like it

That only works with the TS55 and not the TS75, right?

Never that of that Peter, I just take the saw set the scale to 20mil call it good. Some times Ill take a piece of scrap at the edge of the MFT take the blade plunge it until if just clears the ply about a mm or 3.

I never make a science project out of this, maybe thats my issue

Well I have plenty of issues.....

So lets say that might be just one of my issues :>D

Peter that's a great tip! I never heard that before, I will try it tomorrow.
Jobsworth...yes, you have many issues...fest fever is one of them.

I have the old ATF 55.  The scales on that are invisible.  I gave up many moons ago trying to see the depth scale.  I slide the saw down to the table surface and them lower the push button about another mm or two so the saw teeth just cut barely below the wood i am cutting.
Once I have cut a groove into the table (for me, I am using 1/2" MDF strips so I am cutting into those), i just take a look around the side and drop the teeth to just below the wood.  If I drop the teeth into the saw kerf to set depth of cut, It would not be long before I am all the way thru the 1/2" strips.

I also have 2 flag stops for the MFT.  I used to have 3 but I found that 2 is enough.

That way I know this hardly happens, but some times I make some mistakes and have to recut some pieces I dont have to fool around measuring and resetting the flag stops.
