Hey FOGGERS! I am looking for some assistance with my MFT top project. My old top is worn and I want to make a new one. I have the SYS-MFT and would like to incorporate two of its features in my new MFT top - non skid strip and V notch.
From what I could measure, I need to make a 20 mm wide dado about 2 mm deep. This should cause the strip to protrude 1 mm above the surface. Does that appear accurate? I am thinking about two of them to the left of the track's cutting area and running parallel to the track. One in between the first and second row of holes and the second in the middle of the third and fourth row of holes. This should allow me to use the strips to sand, but keep them away from the cutting area. Any input on where to place the strips?
As far as the V notch, I am thinking of using a V Groove router bit and place the depth just a hair above the top of the MFT rail. This should prevent any round stock from touching the rail when it sits in the groove. (it will avoid it unless the stock touches the base of the V notch) I am thinking of making this V groove parallel to the nonstick strips in the center of the second to third row of holes.
I appreciate any input. Thanks for your help.
