I'll be surprised if others haven't done this, but I had my lightbulb moment while doing production style window sash restoration in the shop.
We all know that the extractor is the heart of most Festool centric operations. That is especially so when doing a combination of power sanding, blade work and hand sanding during benchtop projects. My back gets tired of bending down to floor level to swap the vac hose from the sander to the dust brush attachment, and turning from manual to auto, and adjusting extraction rate for each task.
I won't say that this is a fundamental reason to purchase the MFH-1000, but is just another of those ways that an accessory can bring value and make life a little easier in the shop.
Merely getting the MIDI up off the floor, and putting the controls and hose management in more of an upright position is a definite ergonomic gain. When using an orbital sander where you turn the extraction down during the power sanding, but up for everything else, easier access to the controls is helpful. This rig also gets my hand tools and accessories off the bench top but within reach during each task sequence.
Thought I'd pass it along...
