Midi Dust Extractor Specs

First, I am new to the FOG, and relatively new to Festool.  I bought a TS55 last winter as age was making harder to wrestle sheet goods and a track saw seems like a good way to mitigate that  ;).  Its been "down hill" from there...ETS 150/3; CXS; Domino 500.  Anyway, after using a shop van for the past year, I am considering a dust extractor for these tools and am confused....

I am trying to determine the real specs of the CT Midi.  As I understand it, the old Midi (prior to Oct 2011?) was rated at 99cfm and did not include a hepa filter/was hepa certified.  Midi's since then are 137cfm and include a Hepa filter/certification.

Here is my confusion.  Both have the same part number 583376.  So how do I tell which one I am getting if I buy it?  My woodcraft store insisted the one they were selling was the "right one" because the part number matched, but the specs said 99cfm in documentation.

Confused, I am.

Part of me is thinking of getting the CT26 to avoid the confusion.  But I don't think I need the larger unit nor the larger bill.

Thanks.

If it has a HEPA sticker on the box or the CT itself, it's the newer model.

There was no change in product number.

At this point, I doubt any dealers still have inventory that's more than a year old. The change actually took place around mid-2011, but was announced in October.

Welcome to the forum.  [smile]

Thanks.  That might have been the problem.  I looked earlier this year and it may have been an older model.  Will check with them now....and look for the stickers...

Thx, Alan.  After a bit more thought, I took another Festool plunge and sprung for the extra capacity of ct26. Glad I did.

Nice.

I was really surprised when I recieved my CT 36 AC how much more capacity it had compaired to my CT22. For almost the same foot print and only an inch or so taller then then the 22 with hose garage it's amazing!

I have a midi thats about 2 months old I am considering selling. It's been lightly used in a shop only, haven't even filled a bag on it yet and have original box. The capacity on the smaller vacs is deceiving, they hold ALOT more thank you would think since they pack the dust so tight into the bag. I also have a box of bags, new.

Still wrestling with the decision to sell, since the footprint and the size of the midi is tough to beat. It's incredibly portable, which I like. But the limitations of not being able to add the boom arm etc like you can on the 26 has me considering it. Either vac will bring advantanges and disadvantages. Finding I need more than 1 of everything in the Festool line, it's a slippery slope.  [big grin]
