Some of us who are relatively new here STILL don't know what you old-timers are talking about. Can somebody post a picture showing them in action?

The Festool clamping elements come with knobs to screw into the from under the table to keep them in place. They are never used by anyone since the elements stay well enough put with just the integral 'dogs' in the MFT holes.

The joke was a reference to the fact that everyone uses those redundant knobs for jigs and everything else but to crawl under the MFT table to screw them into the clamping elements.

I dont have a midi, but I do have a syst mft.

What I did was pop the lid off and swap it with a sys 2. I use it for storing my kreg jig.

Im thinking is I need to clamp the PH pieces it would be ideal.

Though Im in my small UK shop which is all festool and I use the MFTs for my work benches.

Once I return to the states set up in a full size garage shop, Ill have room for a good steady work bench.

Then the sys mft w/ kreg jig will really shine.

Just begun thinking about the possibilities if Festool would move from standard size T-locs to Midi-sized ones and provide expanded inserts for tools and their accessories.

Wonder how complete sets one could fit into midis compared to the current ones and could one do away with the sys-4 and sys-5 sizes if there was the extra width of a midi to use (think TS-saws, Domino XL, routers)?

I could see the routers on their side in the box with a bunch of holes at one end of the box for router bits and places for all the copy rings, etc. readily slotted into the insert or maybe even have a place for a removable multi-layer router bit storage box inside the systainer...  You could also fit double length fence rods into the box and possibly make space for a second fence for those who need to route large M&T joints with double fences.
Of course I would then expect Festool to sell the midi's with their inserts like they currently sell the replacement normal T-locs with inserts for those who would like to 'upgrade' existing tools  [tongue]

Combine this idea with my previous one about a combination Midi/sortainer/DF lid and you could really have a killer tool-with-accessories-and-consumables-in-one-place solution at hand...

I think the mft lid would work nicely for the carvex accessory kit sys lid. Throw a few clamps in there and you can have a mobile bench/prop for jigsaw work.

I've been thinking of doing this with my Domino and OF1400.  If I get around to building the inserts myself, I'll post pics.  Actual molded inserts would be nice, though!

Just remember that if there are small parts the top has quite a few holes.  Ziplock bags are sexy, but they are useful.

Just words of advice from someone who has a tendency to find systainers upside down or sideways in his truck.
