My CT26 lives in the basement and my advice to you would be if you are ever going to travel with it get a smaller vac.  I'm a big guy but the CT26 is a bulky and awkward thing to lug up and down steps.  I also have a Nilfisk Aero 21 and with just a bit less capacity than the CT26 it's much easier to travel with.  It's about as effective at pickup and as quiet but it lacks the power port and bluetooth control that are standout features on the CT26.

Ditto to what kevin said about the size, if you will me moving it much.  Not so much that they are heavy, just rather big.  Carrying my CT36 up the stairs was pretty awkward (not so much the new house, which has wider staircase).  When I bought mine, all the vacs used the same motor/blower --- it was just the bag capacity that varied.
