Hello everyone, I'm looking to upgrade to a Mirka Deros 6". I am looking to purchase from Amazon since they have an extended return policy, and with hearing a lot about how some of these are faulty, the extended return window gives me extra piece of mind. Unfortunately, the 6" that is on Amazon is a 2.5mm orbit. They do have a 5" one in a 5.0mm orbit, but I prefer the  larger size. Is the 2.5mm orbit adequate to be able to remove some stock in a reasonable amount of time? I also haven't seen too much on the smaller orbit as opposed to the larger one. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I don't have a Deros but I would think if you're looking for rapid stock removal the five mm Sandra is going to be your best bet. I have the ETS EC 150 / 5 and use it for everything. I had been using an ETS EC 150 / 3 for sanding fine plywood's. Depending on the medium you'll notice more scratch marks at lower grits with the 5 MMR orbit but that can be overcome easily by moving up grits. Of course if money is no issue get both! [emoji23]

If you're willing to try another dealer I've noticed ABs gloves and abrasives on the internet has all the America you can think of.

The Larger orbit will, in my experience, make a significant difference in material removal speed. I wouldn't want a 2.5mm orbit as my only sander if I was doing more than fine finishing.

The 2.5mm will do it no doubt, but it will take a lot longer. So if decent material removal is something you do often, I think you'd enjoy the 5mm more.
