I recently completed a custom project for a friend. He wanted a special coffee table / foot stool unit to match his other Craftsman and Stickley pieces.
It was a fun project for me because I was able to use SketchUp to collaborate on the initial through final design without having to cut any boards. This was especially useful since I live in Wisconsin and he lives in Minnesota. By the time we were done with the SketchUp phase he knew exactly what he was going to get, and I knew exactly how I was going to build it.
The agreement was that I would do all the woodworking and he would finish and upholster to match his existing furniture.
I made extensive use of my Domino and Festool sanders. All the parts are joined together using Domino construction, including the small side slats. The wood was all quarter sawn white oak.
