Apologies if this is an idiot question or has been covered before.

I just picked up a TSC 55 and was trying to miter some edges using the rail on the MFT3; the first thing I did was align the 45 degree gauge marker with the mark on my board, and made a cut. It was quite a ways off. Reading the manual, I realized that the gauge marker is for no-rails situations. Makes sense - but is there a gauge marker for when you're using rails?

Thanks for your time and patience!

if i read you correctly, you are tilting the machine over?

if you are, all you need to do is line up the splinter guard with the line and cut.  it bevels around the base of the splinter guard.  the markers on the saw its self are for, as you said, use off the rail

You're correct. Thank you! I like to make my first question on any forum a really dumb one, set the bar low for future interactions :)
