Mitred Cubes

Making these cubes for a client. They are made from cherry, sapele and iroko. I miterd all the edges using my of1010 and a bevel bit. Toke me 5 hours to bevel all the edges of over 400 pieces. Once they are all assembles I will be sending them away to get laser engraved on all faces then spray them with laquer for the final finish[attachthumb=1][attachthumb=2][attachthumb=3][attachthumb=4]

I'm legally not allowed to say what there use will be yet. I have under estimated how long they are taking to do. Almost one day maching all the wood and mitres. They are all held together with glue and headless pins. I could have used masking tape and wrapped them that way but it would tke forever if I did it that way.  I'm about half way through assembling them
now. The mitres aren't perfect so I'm rolling the joint over with a screwdriver :-(

for that size and for that many, i'm genuinely curious why you didn't go the miter saw or the table saw route?  or the router route with a lock miter bit for alignment in gluing and much better joint strength.

I'm making these at home in my small shed to be closer to home for a few days so no access to my table saw. My Kapex is in for repair so didn't have access to it. They are 80mm x 80mm x 80mm

I also don't have a lock mitre joint bit for my routers. Iv never had the need of one before to be honest

Ha your not the first person to say that  [tongue] Their not too bad. Rounding them over with the screwdriver makes them tight looking.

Where you attach the photos there is now menu to insert them as to how you would like them. Must be a new feature because I never saw it before

While a lot forum members enjoy pics of jobs, your one of the few that has made that comment. Good stuff, too many members, not just here but on virtually every forum post pictures of work they have been involved with or designed for someone else which is not their property, if they have been paid. Very few of my customers want unknown pictures of there homes and belongings broadcast on the internet.

I agree. I work for a very large joinery fit out company and could post pictures of work every day. I tend to post pictures of my "hobby" and things I've made at home

It's driving me crazy that you didn't stack those 4x4x4.  I want to reach into the screen and do it.

As for posting pics of work for others, I don't without explicit permission.  It's easier if they post it and then I link to it.

Nicely done. I use the side of a screwdriver trick on cheap vinyl wrapped kitchen light pelmets and cornice
I had a similar job to do for a ceramics company, but all were in white gloss melamine faced MDF..... all joints were taped and glued.
Not a job I'd willingly do again.  ;D
As for NDA/secrecy agreements I have had to sign some and even done them verbally, those jobs don't even get photographed due to the contract. If the client allows me to photograph the work then the pics are mine to do with as I please, however, it would be bad for business to be silly with them. ( and bad taste if I took pics of the undertaking work I did in a Schreinerie  [eek] )
