Modifying ETS 125 EQ to accept positioning aid

My trusty old ETS 125 EQ is in pieces on the bench as I need to replace the counterweight bearing. While it's apart I'm thinking about whether it's possible to modify it to accept the AH-ES-ETS/ETSC positioning aid. Has anyone tried this? It looks like swapping in part 10602127 from the ETS 125 REQ might work (the bearing plate that it interfaces with is the same part number in both sanders)

Decided to spend $20 to answer my own question ... and, sadly, no it doesn't really fit. Since the REQ bearing cover has a groove for the accessories, the bearing plate sits 1-2mm higher than the EQ, leading to a gap between the REQ bearing cover and the EQ main body. In practice it probably would actually work but just looks like a total bodge.

Festool do some very interesting things from a design point of view. Its they go out of their way to ensure that the particular tool you buy only does just that , and do that 1 function quite well. They don't like making it become more than 1 tool. Thanks for trying and sharing your results. To get a great dust collecting 125mm , I initially tried the 125mm pad and was very disappointed in the result. So I got another 150mm pad and cut it down to 125mm. It collects dust so much better. It makes me wonder why they don't incorporate the dust collection of the 150 into the 125mm pad. I have scanned my ETS EC2 150 sander to eventually get 3d printed an edge sanding attachment for it. Nothing is quite as simple as it seems , especially making it look like it is a real part and not a something that is just cludged together.
