I guess the lighter side of our current situation is working in the shop is about as socially distant as you can get. Managed to carve out a few more inches over the weekend. With more of the clutter cleared out the MFT/SYS cart slides under the new work surface as planned and is very functional.

Liked this so much I decide to replicate it on the other side, pivoting 180 degrees:

The "island" will be hinged, legs fold up and drops down when not in use. Overall I've ended up with roughly 7' by 7' of open floor area inside a 10' by 12' structure stuffed to the gills. It's working great.
