Most aggressive Random Orbital Sander

Bob,

Im guessing the regular (non HD) Abranet will be ok for what I'm doing?

How is the dust extraction with the non HD, as far dust making it through the mesh??

Depending on how roughed up and weathered the wood I'd maybe go with the HD if it is rough for the initial pass as it won't tare if it catches a rough patch, then go for the regular from there onwards. Dust collection is superb with both, virtually dust free sanding.

Hey Bob,

Have not used it yet..rained here today..I promise to pass on some thoughts on it as soon as I get a day in with it.

But, ran into the problem of locating 6' 80 grit paper with standard holes here..even non-standard holes...hard to find!

Anyone have an online source for 6 inch paper..good quality in bulk packs??

With shipping overnite or 2 day?

Thanks
. Check Klingspor on-line to see if you can get abrasives for the new sander from them. I know they have at least a few 'holed' discs for sale in various hole configurations .

I moved from the Chicago burbs - Wheaton - about 3 years ago, back to God's Country.  While in the Chicago area I found at least 3 Berlands and ALL were completely stocked floor to ceiling with Festool, Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, Jet, etc, etc, and a staff who were tool users as well.  Going there was akin to being like a mosquito in a nudist colony - soo much tool, so little time.  Good luck.  Wood World was a bit too far for me to go, but when I did, they were fully stocked and very helpful; down the scale a bit was a Woodcraft near me, but I think they might be closed now.

Hope this helps

Yep, all of these Berland's are located in the suburbs..I needed to be in Des Palines at supply joint and the Rockler in Hoffman was an easy jump.

I made a ton of calls on the Bosch 1250DEVS and could't find it anywhere in the city..probably exist somewhere in the city limits, but I could't put a finger on it.

If you have no other source then Amazon peddles it. The 50-packs are cheaper/pad.

Yes the Woodcraft owner closed his store with little warning to his staff, or customers.  He yanked the store out of Palatine in a protest over taxes and moved to Libertyville for a few years, then suddenly closed the store.

Hi all,

I've been using the Bosch 1250 DEVS for two days now and a couple of thoughts.

It's a great sander. Very well balanced (one hand use in standard orbital mode in akward positions is totally smooth) - powerful - decent ergonomics - not too heavy on vertical use -2nd aggressive mode is very useful of you can two hands on the machine..cuz it rips, nice long cord -all good

It's a little bit hoppy and chattery on high speed spin mode..to be expected as it's mostly an aggressive spinner in this setting.

..has some serious torque in the aggressive setting and if you're on a ladder and not positioned well it has the potential to take you out..tight quarters in high speed..you can smack your hands a bit if it bites..If you have a balanced, comfy position it's ok though..nice to be able to change modes, for sure. You can rip off material and switch to orbital and smooth things out..very cool on the fly.

All in all a big thumbs up..gets the job down without much fuss

...Keep in mind I've been using this thing in some extremely awkward positions and am thrilled with it's performance and efficiency.

Thanks to all and thanks for the heads up on Abranet..very nice stuff.

Any questions about stuff I didn't mention, fire away.

!!

Thanks for the review. I've had it in my "cart" for a few days, just need to pull the trigger.

I hate being a tightwad sometimes. :-)

Probably got his first Libertyville tax bill. A fellow I know was paying 30k a year on a residence there.

. No, the store was there for a good few years, but I don't know the reason he shut it down.  The Palatine move was to get out of Cook County, a large beef over sales tax amount .
Libertyville had lower sales tax than Palatine.
I seem to remember Palatine at one point was threatening to leave Cook County... [eek]

Well, I just ordered a Bosch. Come to think of it, I believe it will be my first Bosch tool.
