moving big iron across country - worth it?

[member=60461]Bob D.[/member] Yes - you provide the lock and it is secured with your lock and their security tag.  You can access the PODs at their warehouse if you need to get into them while in storage.  No charge for access.

I moved with little furniture.  Bought new and built a lot once I got moved.

Unfortunately, used furniture is not worth much these days unless it is very contemporary.  I put a lot on consignment and got maybe 5-10% of it’s original value, and it was very nice, high-end furniture.  But not much demand for 20+ year old furniture.

I will chime in with another thumbs up for PODS. When we moved to Cleveland, we were in an apartment for a couple months while house hunting and getting a feel for the communities. We loaded the PODS at ground level, at our own pace and unloaded them the same way. Out stuff was a few miles away (I didn't know you could access it...never needed to, thankfully) which was reassuring. A moving company would not have accepted "Just hold on to it until we find our dream home", but PODS did.
