mudroom bench with bookcase

here is an interesting project I did.. the customer wanted a bookcase on the top with the bench that opens up for shoes and hooks for back backs.. so I built it... I still do not really like the bookcase on top, looks sorta out of place.. but hey I got paid and its what he wanted with my added touches.

what do you think

also did a bench in their kitchen eating area and bead board all around the living room

I agree with you. It looks odd. It would look better if it wasn't white. A dark colour would balance the books overhead and not make the piece look so top-heavy, although it may not fit in with the rest of the house.

Looks great Kreg. If the customer wants a bookcase that's what they get, hard to predict use patterns.
