MUNGO systainers

Hello joiner I think this is what you wanted, but Im not sure  search lawson his makita p-66999 check it out [big grin]

I already contacted Lawsons before I ended up getting the Mungo systainer but they wanted gbp 46 plus vat plus delivery each for the Makita ones part number------824783-6.

The Mungo one is the same but was only gbp 29

The ones you have spotted are not systainers they are the cheapo clones that use metal clips as far as I can tell thats why they are cheap.

Hi it  may be worth further investigation,it brings up the kit, as the case part number is part of the compete part.no's for that kit. easy to find a use for another  systainer my mungo arrived yesterday, courier could not find me.Hence the delay  my airshield pro is in residence now a good fit..

On the tool sop direct site they list the big 1/2 inch makita router as one  of uses for the case which would inicate its a large case

Yeah it does look like a sys4 in the picture I emailed lawsons back and they said it is but it had been sold  [sad] but i have emailed Makita again just to check it is a systainer if so I will oreder one anyway and use the Mungo one for my Nail guns or something.

got an email from makita saying it is stackable and the same size as a sys4 but its not interlockable

is that a deal breaker? would you need to it  lock to other systainers its quite tall on its own.

yeah .... Theres no point having a systainer that doesnt attach to my others. Makita say it doesnt but in the photo of the sander/jigsaw set that comes with the case it clearly is a proper systainer , maybe the photo is wrong.

Maybe the latches are shorter in length, and don't have a "lower" and "upper" position to connect to another Sys.
In the picture at the start of this thread the latches do look a little stunted...  Just a theory.

Maybe the sales rep didn't know systainers as well as (s)he ought to? I just glanced at a Makita systainer at my wholesaler today and for as far as I could see walking by it was more or less the same combo as in the published link.  And it sure looked like a proper systainer to me. It had the bottom hooks and all, so I don't think there would be any reason it wouldn't interlock. I was in a hurry, so didn't try the latches but it sure looked like a proper SYS 4  to me.
Perhaps the picture on the website is wrong and they'll put it in some other kind of stackable box?

Regards,

Job

The trouble is Makita do a very similar case but it has metal latches and doesnt lock together with systainers but it looks to me that the jigsaw sander combo does have a systainer maybe he does have it wrong and it is a real systainer.

The photo on the left is the official Makita picture of the p66999 case and the one on the right is of the Mbox as they call it in Europe as you see they are basically Tanos systainers stackable and interlockable so either the Makita guy is wrong or their picture is wrong because it looks exactly the same as the boxes in the right hand photo to me.

Not sure if it helps any, but we had a conversation about Makita boxes in January and here is a photo of a Makita box with metal latches, which may be the one under discussion in that thread:

It could well be Forrest thats the one i was thinking with the metal clips that would explain him saying it didnt interlock I have emailed Makita back to see if the photo is wrong.

Is the case with metal latches a systainer actually manufactured by Tanos.

Sorry, I don't know who makes it. I didn't take the photo and don't have the box in question.

I don't know for certain, but I would think it's NOT made by Tanos. It's probably made in the far east, and made to look a bit like a systainer but not enough to have issues with copyright etc.

I can't think of any good reason why Tanos would make something like this.

Looks like a knock off. Just look at the back latches. What would they be used for that close the the back hinge?

Maybe the lid is not hinged but comes off completely? I dunno .....

Your right. I was taking the simple approach that the design was a Systainer rip-off. So the rear latch was just too make it look like a systainer.
