Phil, wasn't sure if you're aware, but we here in the US have a slightly different model of the Mixer.

The main difference being that it lacks the 2 speed gearbox in the US?  Any other differences?

His Mixer has the Speed Change on the front of the Motor Housing, ours has it on the Handle as my pictures show.  I'm guessing Phil's model is more expensive ????  A look at Festool UK's site shows that larger 2 speed mixer as the 1600/2.  I haven't looked any further into it.... [blink]

Phil, just a bit of nitpicking here, but at 3:05 you say that it has higher torque at the second speed setting (While in the beginning of the video you say it has higher torque in the low speed setting; which sounds more logical to me).  ;)

Maybe he meant Gear and not Speed?.. [blink]

Yes, that's what he said (Gearbox in position two) (I was wrong by referring to it as speedsetting :-[) But it would be logical that the first gear would be the slower torquier one, and second gear the faster one.

It appears the Uk (Euro?) version is called a 1200/2 E EF, whereas the US is just a 1200 E EF.  So we don’t have the two different gears/torque settings.  How that translates into actual torque differences I don’t know.  The motors may be completely different?

. If you refer to a UK site, only 1 model has two speeds and it’s the 1600/2...There are two other models listed, a MX 1000 and a 1200, but neither has a two speed change/gearbox ,just a single gear.  Beats me..... [smile]

. Festool UK lists the 1600/2 as, 1st gear for slower, heavier mixing, and 2nd gear for thinner material.

But but but Phil's video clearly shows a machine labeled 1200/2 with two speed settings....

Phil, ya can't drop a video like that and further confuse your friends across the pond.  We're confused enough as it already is.  [tongue]

It’s pretty obvious they take mixing properly more seriously than we do...
