I banged the toe of my standard block into a screw. I have cried my tears and now its time to do something.

I have taken the toe off and slid it along a 4000 grit Japanese water stone. This has removed the burr from the collision, but have I now messed with the milled perfection? Should I just get a toe replacement?

Whattya think?

God forbid you have a tool with actual, honestly earned character.

It happens. lap the sole a bit, fix the blade. It will still plane well, it will still work well. And now that it's not perfect, you have the opportunity to appreciate the tool for what it can do, instead of just what it looks like.

Do you wax and polish your festools, too?
