So every spring, my daughters school has an art show. In the past, the art teacher has had me build pedestals and what not.
This year, she needs 6ft x 4ft "window displays," so that the kids can show off clothing & costumes they have designed. So she called me.
3/4" MDF is a wonderful thing. Cut into 2" wide strips, and joined with the Domino (5mm x 30mm), it works. I will then use some more 2" wide MDF to make "L" shaped legs, which are bolted on to the frames.
I have made a 1' x 1' frame, and a 4' x 2' frame with legs as demo units. I was surprised. They held together very well.
The one thing I learned is that since the Domino is metric, and MDF is Imperial, I have to keep track of which side is "up" since the Domino does not cut it exactly in the middle. Otherwise, it's a fraction off. The teacher does not care, but it makes me crazy.
Then all the teacher has to do is paint them.
The next thing I have to figure out is how to handle 6ft long pieces of MDF and my Domino together.
Later,
