My Festool at work!

Hello FOG! I just read a post that surprised me at first. It was about rarely seeing festool on the job site. I was surprised because I use festool 99% of the time on site but I quickly realized that it was true, I haven't ever seen another carpenter with any festool. Even on YouTube we see cabinet makers and woodworkers either in their shop or garage, never on site. The only on-site vids are ads from festool. So here's my point... I am a finish/trim carpenter who does not have a shop or a garage (house has car port only).  I only work on site. I prefer to set up in the living room but some builders used to ask me to cut in the garage to cut down on dust. This hasn't happened since I bought my kapex/ct (a year ago) and I love it. No more long walks to make small adjustment cuts. The kapex and ct together have saved me time and money and even better, made my work easier and more accurate. Worth every penny.

Today I finally got the ts 55 req to go along with my kapex. I've only made a few cuts into mdf sheets but I can already tell that this tool will change the way I do things, for the better of course. The Ts may replace my kapex as "my baby"  yes I refer my kapex as my baby, I love it that much. Anyways, this was intended to be short post but I ended up rambling on, probably due to new ts excitement.  Here are some proud pics of MY Festool!

Ps the pics are in the garage only because I'm installing exterior PVC trim (which I don't normally do) as a personal favour to my favourite builder

With the kind of work you do I can see an MFT in your future.

From now on you won't be known as Jerome ... it'll be Madame Zelda

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

An mft is definitely on my wish list but there is 2 tools In Front of it. First is the ro125, which I'm sure will increase my production and save my lungs. 2nd is the of1400, I believe this router and the guide rails will bring my shelving game to the next level.

Mike, I have a TS55, RO125 and the OF1400.  When you get the RO125 and the OF1400 you will not be disappointed.  Welcome aboard.

I get so many "whaaaat is that" on the job sites.  Frequently, we feel as if we are being watched by the other trades, and most of the time, we are right!

Welcome Mike, I take my Festools to the job site and yes some time I get strange looks.
I only seen a painting contractor use some on site and sold him a few Festools. Another sub I use to work with picked up a ts75 and a Kapex. Probably like working with mine. He tried a hitachi CMS before he settled on the Kapex. They weren't tight.
Good luck,
Rick

I bought my festools because they are awesome on site tools. Been switching most of my non festools to systainers so everything packs in and out faster.

I have actually fallen in love with the organization the systainers bring to my job sites.  Before I was one of those who have nine different jumbled bags, and handfuls of crap lugged in and out everyday on my jobs.  Not to mention the literally hours of time saved when looking for stuff.  Now I glide in and out effortlessly and my tools stay organized all day long.  I know where everything is and if it's missing at the end of the day.  Festool has taken me to a whole new level when I set up my MFT tables and dust extractor, and my endless stacks of systainers people are overly impressed I swear my organization and cleanliness alone have gotten me more referrals.

I've only got the TS55 (so far) and the extractor but I use mine on site. Trouble is everyone always ask about it so I loose time explaining how good it is! Like you it's completely changed the way I work. Which is mad as I've been a carpenter for 12 years now and a single tool has changed everything!

Glad to hear you are enjoying your Festools on site.  I have been using mine for the last 5 years and I can't imagine any other system, except one with more Festools.

About your upcoming purchases, just thought I would give you my opinion even though you didn't ask for it.  I have had the OF1400 and RO125 for over 4 years but they almost never leave the shop.  The OF1010 is my go to site router(besides my Colt which really gets the most use with the 1/8" round over bit always chucked up).  The 1400 is bulky, and tippy on and off the guide rails. I generally only break it out for template work or big rabbits.  The RO 125 is a really nice sander to use when you are doing aggressive sanding overhead or up on a ladder, but for general use on a workbench or MFT the RO 150 is faster and easier to handle.  The 125 is a squirrely little beast, I don't even bother using it in RO mode.

Good luck!
