My Festool Story

Thanks so much. One last question on this thread hijack - do your bearings spin freely? What I'm trying to ask is does the top spin on the rod, or does the rod spin in the bearing. Mine don't seem to move and I was expecting a spinning bearing. Not important if the top spins over the rod, and with it moving side to side it sounds like it does./quote]

Jobsworth, Mine spins freely on the rod, not in the bearings, however the bearings are more for support than anything. My 3/4" hole through the top was about a 32nd larger enabling my top spin freely. I feel this was the best way to ensure less possible error when gluing it all up, if you want the bearings to do the work, you'd have to use construction adhesive or something on the rod while you glued up you tops, therefor harder to install the edge banding, etc.  To much of a pain IMO, plus the bearings are not the best by any means.

Good luck, I'd like to see it when you finish.
