Something most, if not all, here come across at least once a day.

No dogs allowed in my home.

Lower back pain?   [unsure]

Without the shape, it would have been a different pain.

I doubt you use a pallet jack in the house but those stretchers would make for easy access and moving.

Tom.  What a fantastic job. This is an awesome design for sure, that will for sure be a family heirloom.  [not worthy]

Just on the safety note from a recent father of newborns- the finger thing isn't an issue, babies only use cradles for the first four months or so.  Then they usually move to a crib.  That's well before they are able to sit up, much less stand and poke thier fingers in things- which the baby would have to do to get to those swinging arms.

- While I generally agree with your statement, that crib will be very handy as a play pan later on. Just add a locking pin on the outside to prevent swinging motion when unattended.

Now that's an idea. pallet jack to the outside, forks on the 855 to transport it the 5 miles to their house. Thanks.

..................but not the reason for the shape.

No pin, but very easy to lock.

Link length limits swing.

By definition, it is a cradle.

Now THAT would be a picture to post on the FOG, with goggles on the little guy of course as he rides inside the cradle on the road to protect his delicate eyes from bugs.  Safety first... [wink]
Beautiful work on the Cradle, very nice design and choice of species. Thank you for sharing it with us.

LOL, sorry but you've got me stumped, I feel like the dudes on TOH passing around a weird contraption and making up silly ideas for its use.

Thank you for at least playing along.

It is for toe space, same as on your cabinets.

Imagine, if you will, the daughter-in-law (knowing my son would never wake up) awakened to the sound of a crying infant. Groggy, she stumbles over to the source of the noise. Upon approach she stubs her toe [scared]. As the concert of screams resonates through the air, they reach our home 5 miles away, before my phone rings [eek].

I nearly did install the stretcher straight across. Then it dawned on me it was not a good idea.

Not sure I like the top stretcher, wife wanted it to hang things off of. Notice I did move it towards the rear of the frame. Wanted to avoid a head banger.

Tom

You could round it off and move it back to the middle as a chin up bar.

Have you ever noticed how strong an infant's grip is? If they're healthy, they can hang from just their grip.

Well, the wife did say she wanted to hang things off of it. Not sure she had her grandson in mind when she said it. ;D

Changed the links from Ipe, to Leopard wood, the lighter areas match the canning.

These look fantastic!
I know it's a small part of this (large) project, but I really like the shape, color and choice of wood for these links.

Thanks Tim.

The Ipe looked out of place with its color and muted grain. I had to find something. I liked this better than lacewood, so........
