My new Dewalt MFT setup

Having a small shop, I decided to make two MFT tops and mount them to Dewalt stands.  Found the idea doing a MFT google search and figured it was the best for a small shop.  I can fold them up and out of the way when needed.  When in use, they are held together with 80/20 aluminum extrusion .

Nice work. Simple and clean.  Very flexible arrangement and will take minimal footprint when stored.  I find more uses everyday for my MFT work surfaces.

Which method did you use for the hole drilling?

I cut a sheet of 8x4 length wise, drilled them at 96 mm and use the two sheets on two dewalt stands. They fold up and store well but set up give me an 8x4 work top.

Used the LR32 for the holes.  Bought a sheet of 4x8 MDF and cut it into 4x4.  Made two tops using this method....

I made my tops a little larger so I can place my Parf dogs with guide rails out of the way of the track saw motor.  I have a little more than 28” crosscut capacity from the fence

I remember seeing something similar some years ago. Nice job with your setup!  [thumbs up]  Some hardwood edging might make it even nicer and hold up better to dings if you're setting it up and down often.

Have you ever experienced those DeWalt stands walking on your shop floor? I purchased one of those a few years back and found it would walk when I would either load or unload any amount of weight. It didn't go far, but it was odd.  [blink]  I ended up returning my stand, as its brackets just didn't adjust high enough for the miter saw I have.

I’m still debating on the edging.  Not sure if I should add a t-track for edge clamping or just leave it as is.  So far, no walking with the stands.  I really haven’t use them to test them.  Just finished making these tops.  For height, I added a piece of wood to the stand brackets to bring it level with my Kreg router table.  Use that for offcut side support.

It fits my needs.  I’m by no means a well experienced woodworker and just learning.  I got the Kreg because I got a deal on Craigslist.  Today, I would opt for the new precision lift Kreg is releasing which I believe Jessem offers.  Just easier to set the height than the one on my table.  I do recommend the Incra Clean Sweep dust collection for under the table.  The guy I got it from on Craigslist included it for free and was the best thing.

Ha!  I used to have one that would walk like that, not a DeWalt, and a stepladder too!
