My new old stock Festool 1010 plunge router

I can see why Festool vacuum clamp is a great idea. Work mate good for 2x lumber but with 1x lumber fence with hit orange dogs[attachimg=1]

Doesn’t take much to scratch baseplate . Unless it’s cedar stain that cleans off[attachimg=1]

I think Festool should have more depth stops(turret) [attachimg=1] like Bosch. Those are pretty big depth changes for a 1/4 bit. And I know you can adjust depth rod as well
A depth turret.

The WAP 840A bought on clearance at Sears many moons ago. I sure Festool vacs have even more suction so there would be less debris than with the WAP[attachimg=1]

[attachimg=8][attachimg=7][attachimg=5][attachimg=6][attachimg=3]Played around on a old box drum with a trend 45 chamfer and 1/8 whiteside roundover . Had to use dust catcher with full profile of 1/8 round over used. Dust catcher catches when you round the corner . You would have to finish cut on one side then start fresh on other side. That’s probably the right way to do it anyway. I just start at one place and go all the way around. You can rout one handed . Found this out cause sometimes vac hose catches on work and then I hold hose with one hand and rout with the other. [attachimg=1]

“ Dado filled with chips but moved router back over it and vacuum sucked chips out.”

Run the router the other direction. When the dust port leads the bit the duct collection is poorer than when the dust port follows the bit.

thank you!

A spiral up-cut bit will help with that too. It pulls the chips up and into the vacuum rather than just stirring them around down in the dado/groove.

This is better than the owners manual:

There are supplemental manuals for most of Festool's products and tools.  They're linked on their website.

Dust collection works so well router can hold a board mid air with vacuum on [attachimg=1]

That's awesome.  There's another piece to that collector as well.  At least for my 1400 there is, not sure about the 1010 though.

That is one of the differences of the OF1400. That part is essentially "built-in" to the OF1010.

Since I was working on the NOS Bosch 1611 and 1615 applying liquid graphite lube to the plunge posts I decided to just put a tiny bit of graphite lube on the Festool 1010. posts. Made it even smoother plunging.

Really enjoying the router. Actually looking for things to use it on. I don’t believe there are festfools.  As long as you use something and can afford it buy it. I’m 53. I’ll have that router til I die hopefully in my 90s. Do my philosophy is buy great once cry once. Buy cheap you’ll be crying all the time. And that router is sized to be used a lot.

I ordered these 8mm shank set from Amazon uk. It’s Bosch but black clorored as opposed to blue.  I paid $134. Since my order up to $154. 6 bits were $50. 15 were $99. And the 30 I got was $134.  I really wanted a high quality starter set with maybe 6 bits for same money. Figured I might as well go for the 30 since it’s not like I can gradually build my 8mm shank collection . So now my little Bosch trimmer has a Freud boxed 1/4 set . And the Festool has a 8mm set.  And the Bosch 1611,1615evs, 1617, 1618evs and Milwaukee 5625-20 get the extensive collection of Freud, Cmt, white side and Mlcs. Hope the set is a least decent Bosch Professional 2607017475 30-Piece Set Wood Router Bit Set for 8mm Shank Routerhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ML7K2G...abc_GAMER5ZJX7VSRJ947WB6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Pics are of port adapter made on a 3D printer from a guy on eBay. My WAP vacuum rubber port adapter fits perfect . Beats prying the rubber adapter on the oblong Festool dust port. [attachimg=1]
