My turn

Looks like you are doing it correctly, hopefully will solve your problems.

Darcy have you decided on siding yet?  Have you seen the Nucedar pvc clap boards.  I saw some at my local lumber yard.  It looks like a good product.  Its comparable in price to Hardi Plank.  I like how it clicks together.  I have never installed it before but it looks easy.  I do install a lot of Hardi Plank and its a great product as well.

Tyler or anyone else thinking of Nucedar run don't walk away from that siding. It's expensive,  noisy, the finish is easily damaged, the company is not responsive to  customer complaints, it's difficult to install and repair. I could go on and on. I had to finish a job where the contractor was kicked off the job. A lot of headaches with this product. I would be happy to answer anyone's questions about Nucedar. Darcy if you use any fiber cement siding product install it with a rain screen as moisture moves through the cement very easily. I like the classics- v.g. Red cedar siding or Cypress  wood siding. With the right preparation and installation wood siding can last a long time.
Cheers

Thanks for the info.  It looked like a good product.  I will stick with cement board and cedar.  I agree with protecting behind cement board.  Its only as good as whats behind it.

You need to try Smart Side. Great product, installs with tools were all used to using.

Finished north end, pulled down scaffolding.

Porch is coming off next.

Found a picture of the repair work before I nailed the rim on.

I resided our house with clear vertical grain cedar bevel siding. Not the cheapest thing but simply the prettiest. I wanted to clear coat it but decided to paint it instead. I will surely die in hellll for that decision.
I'm happy with the painting, but I really loved the color of the natural cedar but could not stand the maintenance issues. The cedar siding I removed lasted 65 years so when I need to refurbish the new siding when I'm 131 years old, I'll have another chance at the color. [eek]

I plan to sell in the next 5 years.

Want out of town.

House needed some love, who else was going to do it?

Like to stay under 150 a square.

Wow...sounds like the Duesenberg museum put you over the top. [poke]

Front is done, this coming weekend the porch is coming off.

I decided to strap and brace the scaffolding to the house after 3 sections.

Not sure how I will do the peak, off a platform on top of the scaffolding or get a lift from my buddy to use.

Looking good.  I would barrow the lift, scaffolding is probably really secure, but if you have the option, why risk it.

Great work.  Those windows will really help with the aesthetics of that house.  Nice decision.

As usual, things got busy, I got side tracked, setting up a millwork shop, etc.

Time to get back at it.

Did this Friday evening.

Crude but effective.
Are you building another or just leaving it without.

Pump jacks are the Shyt for that kind of high work. Any buddies with a setup?

I really like pump jacks.  The company I work for has multiple Alum-a-pole jacks and we use them for everything.  We did a beach house and them set up 40-50ft. I would have boat legs by the end of the day.

Some pictures.  Sheet it in the morning, then I can build a platform to work off of.  Work my way to the single story peak.
