NAINA Stuff heading home... to the USA!...

My workshop can realistically now be called a Festool Europe workshop!

Just got confirmation of my latest, and last order with my German dealer for the NAINA items I've lusted over before returning to the U.S. permanently.  Not cheap, but oh so enviable! heh heh!

My dealer cut me a deal on some of the items, so I've redacted the final pricing in the pdf below.  I'm going to miss Germany!! [big grin]

In addition to the items listed in the PDF that are for me personally, I will be bringing back 10 more Toolies; 10 more Festool Swiss Knives; and five 2-meter folding rulers. They will be posted in the Classified section once I am back in the USA.

Next up in the USA --- both Domino's and accessories before the sale ends; Kapex 120, RO150, OF1440 and the monster OF2200.... and then I'm done for awhile on the Green! [scared]

Non Festool coming up for workshop completion: Incra Router table and fence with Jessum lift; Upgrade my Sawstop PCS to a 5HP ICS with Incra Fence; Jet 6"belt and 12"Disc sander; and a Jet 22-44 Oscillating Drum Sander.

By the end of 2015, I'll have my Lifelong Tool plan hopefully complete, and only need consumables thereafter...or new Festool introductions! [thumbs up]

Next year: CNC-Step (German)High-Z S1000/T CNC and a Leapfrog XEED (Netherlands) 3D Printer. [tongue]  (The Leapfrog printer only if a rumored Apple 3D printer does not come to fruition.)

There's a guy who put a laser cutter in place of the Kress Milling Motor on the CNC-Step High-Z unit.  I plan to duplicate his method. I will be working with wood almost exclusively, so no need for a full laser engraver.

I'm not familiar with the CNC step, but I thought you might want to check out ShopBot.... The machines are great and customer service is awesome.  We have a 4' x 8' it can carve almost anything we throw at it.

maybe consider the supermax 25-50 drum sander - it is really good and the people who make it couldn't be better folks and ready to help.
not sure how it matches up to the oscillating jet, but i like it. 

50" total capacity with a quick lever should fall in right in line with the rest of the list - better to have too much and not need it. Odds are that if you get the jet your first project will be a 45" table top…

just send me a spare key when you get a chance.

In my original post, I mentioned that in addition to the NAINA stuff I'm bringing back, I would be buying some more Green in the U.S. on my return next month.
I included the OF1400 and OF2200 Routers in my list.
Now I KNOW I'm getting Alzheimers when I realized I already bought the OF1400 EQ and accessories, but it was delivered a few days after I left for my last trip to Nigeria!! Doh!! [doh]

It's getting really, REALLY bad when you don't even know what you've already purchased, but just HAVE to have more! [eek]

Worst I've done with Festools is buying a third Syslite when I thought I was buying a second. On that occasion I kept it to avoid them embarrassment [embarassed]

In fact, I'll bet a dollar that Frank buys at least one more power tool within a month os getting back and 'completing' his shop.

This brings up a very interesting philosophical question:  Is it better to buy as many tools as possible just in case they might need to use them someday or is it better to buy a piece of equipment when coming up hard against a present need?  I've done it both ways and am still trying to figure it out

I confess that beyond just trying to outfit my shop with the best I can find into retirement..... I can be realistically called one of those whacko "preppers", and not ashamed of it.

In my view, if and when the SHTF, having a working woodshop that can do virtually any work, and driven by a standby 48KW NG/LPG generator and solar energy, assures that I have the barter capability to trade for my family's needs in perpetuity.  Everyone else is hoarding gold, ammo,  and other one-time use commodities, but a working shop will be more valuable than precious metals IMHO. I hoard woodworking equipment and food. (For Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Civil Disorder, EMP, CME, Economic Collapse, or any other EOTWAWKI situation).

Regardless, I will have the tools either way, and that's my intent. [tongue]

I DID look at the Supermax units. I am leaning towards the Jet for the Oscillating motion which eliminates longitudinal sanding marks as well as the smart feeder.
The Supermax is a nice system, don't get me wrong. I just thing the Jet is more what I'm looking for, though I will have to figure out how to manage mobility.

Hi Anthony,

Welcome to FOG!

The energy box hangs below the boom arm and provides three power outlets as well as compressed air attachments and dust collection ports. All moveable throughout the 16.5 ft radius of the boom arm.

The unit I'm buying in Germany has three 220 Euro outlets, but they can be removed, and I plan to replace with two 110V outlets and a single 220V 1-Phase outlet.  The Air compression outlets include one pure air, and two oiled outlets.  Up to 120PSI.  I will be using the non-oiled outlet most of the time.

The boom arm hosts an air compression duct as well as dust collection hose.  I will attach a CT36 or CT48 to the DC and a California Air Tools CAT-1740D Ultra Quiet and Oil-Free 4.0 HP 17.0-Gallon Steel Tank Air Compressor with Dryer to the compressed air duct. Both the compressor and CT will be in the attic above the shop for noise abatement.

Additionally, the back of the energy box can be mounted with up to two battery chargers, and there are two hooks for holding tools. Finally, there are two extensions that are provided for storing sanding discs to be readily at hand.

It's a unique and functional system by Festool. The boom and energy box were primarily designed for their automotive sector, but it will work magnificently in a fairly good-sized woodshop.
