Hi my name is zeke, and this is my first day of being a festool owner! I just got my domino xl that was supposed to arrive Christmas day, I live in a small town in north Carolina , and my dad owns 4 retail furniture shops which I manage. Anyways, I came across a man who was selling walnut slabs for an unbelievable price. Bening the woodworker that I. Am I bought three of them and am in the process of making a desk. I sanded down all the slabs from 60 grit to 100 to 160 to 220 and finished them with watco dark walnut. Danish oil. After which I applied two coats of amber shellac of my own mixing and cut the second and third slab to. 34 inches for my trestle sides. Now the fun part  I. Put six dominos at 12 mm x 70 mm in each trestle side and adjacently in the undercarriage of the top. Joined them together using gorilla glue and clamped the whole desk together. Now I'm letting it dry in the mourning I will cut my rough cut walnut to size for the stretcher to join the trestle sides to one piece. Then cut my drawer holders and attach it to my 2 inch top using one inch. Wood screws . Finally, I will put the. Walnut faces on my drawer box and haul it to the shop to sale. This is not my first project, but it is my first with festool and let me say, it saved me literally a whole afternoon of dowel crafting. And old school Joubert! I can put pictures step by step of my project once I figure out how to upload images from my mobile. Thanks for having me here at fog and any replies are greatly appreciated, I also am cool with constructive criticism, if anyone needs help with a. Project , I do custom building , am a behlen distributer and premier distributor, I have stock lumber and can help you get project materials of quality for reasonable prices, thanks

I got these slabs from a man who cuts them here in the Appalachian mountains. Firstly I sand them with my bosche 6.5 amp dander down to 220 grit from rough cut. Secondly, apply three coats of watco dark wanut danish oil. Lastly apply an amber shellac French polish until satisfaction is reached. I am a h behlen distributer and sell cheaper than anyone else.I also distribute for an mar finishes and can sell for amazing prices. Anyways tell me what you think, show me your finishes! Feel free to go crazy, and ask if you need help we  all have to start somewhere!

Very nice ! I do a lot of rustic and freestyle Appalachian furniture and those you had are beautiful and had a proper finish I'm sure your daughter is happy. Anyone else have other slab furniture pics?

The joinery was so smooth with the new domino xl I just got for Christmas. This is my first project with it!
