Need opinions on new countersink bits

Hey, would like some help making a decision on some new countersink bits. I broke both bits on my el-cheapo ones last night and found
that snappy makes some that work in the centrotec holders:

Snappy Countersink Set

However this is also this type, which is similar to the Festool countersinks:

Single Flute Countersinks

The difference between these and Festool is that they will cut a straight recess suitable for wood plugs to conceal the screws, whereas the Festool ones won't.

So, any preferences on one type over the other? First type is more convenient, but of course I've always had bad luck with the bits overheating and breaking.

The Festool countersinker has been really good to me. I own the Snappys as part of a set and have never used them. Eric

If you have the need for using wood plugs, you definitely have your answer. If you're just countersinking & want to use centrotec, then you're choosing between the Festool offerings or Snappy's new choices. You get a lot for what you pay on the Snappy set(s) compared to single choices from Festool, but I have not yet tried the Snappy for centrotec yet. I used to use the original Snappy countersinks but hated having the Jacobs chuck on so I use the Festool countersink w/bit!

Uh, which one?  [big grin]

The first ones with drill bits or the festool style snappy's that require a separate hole to be drilled?

Probably just me but  I am getting confused by terminology in this thread.    ???  The Centrotec Snappy's that you link to  will counterbore, the others that you link to  are not made by Snappy.

I have the Snappy Centrotec set, but have not used it beyond trying it out yet. The quality and cutting seem to be the same as  other Snappy products, and seems good.  Currently the only option in a one piece (drill, countersink, counterbore)  bit that will fit Centrotec in the sizes needed for most #6 & #8 woodworking screw applications.

My bad.

I prefer the single flute countersinks for use on a hole that is already drilled, they cut smoother and chatter less than old-style countersinks (the kind with the radial teeth)

The Snappy countersinks are decent, and the counterbore matches the Snappy plug cutters, which is good if you want to make your own plugs.

UPDATE: I noticed today that the festool countersink will indeed cut a "pluggable hole" if extended completely. However, the size of that hole measures 13 mm in diameter and is 1 mm larger than the 1/2" (12 mm) plugs that are available here (and they are HUGE).

Is there a 13 mm plug available in europe which is intended to be used in this hole?

We use 1/2 plugs too which are 12.7mm surely?

I measured mine and they came in at 12. Were very sloppy/loose in the bored hole.

The cutter you list would work I guess, was just hoping to be lazy and buy them pre-made.
