New Alternative to Laguna P|Flux 3?

I haven't pulled the trigger yet on the dust collector. Before I do, I wanted to see if one of you knew of supposedly some new offering by a competitor that is supposed to be as good...but much easier to assemble? I think it might have been a Powermatic, but I'm still searching in vain.

I have the Laguna P Flux 3 and did not think it was difficult to put together at all.  Works beautifully for me.

Usually, auto cleaning is not recommended with hepa filters.  Although, you can add one to the Laguna.

1 year vs. 5 year warranty on the PM if it matters to you.

In terms of the assembly, if you watch the video, and you've ever assembled a piece of ikea furniture (it's okay, you can admit it), it's probably a few hours to a half day exercise to get it assembled.  That shouldn't amount to more than a nuisance for most.

I highly recommend you find the YouTube videos on the Laguna from Matt Cremona. If I had to start over, I’d probably go all Oneida.

Matt could improve the fines separation if he would properly seal the seams on that dust collection barrel.  Still, that small amount of fine dust after about 5 barrels is pretty darn good if you ask me.

Oneida charges extra for some of the accessories that the Laguna comes with.

Learn what the specs actually mean and how SP effects CFM. Most small shop systems work between a SP of 9 to 12. Better still is find someone that actually has done proper CFM flow readings with seasoned filters in a shop setting for the actual unit your interested in. Factory specs without a fan curve are basically useless. Otherwise waste your money and buy based on the internet drivel posted here.

I have owned the the Laguna P Flux 3 for 18 months.  It works great for a small shop.

Yeah, it takes some of the fun out of participating in online discussion boards. I owned the largest BMW motorcycle discussion board on the planet for six years. Then the emotional overhead of unkind posts overwhelmed me and I gave it away to someone more patient than me.

To the rest of you, thanks for the thoughtful replies. I'm just learning like everyone else and I'm grateful for the selfless feedback that so many of you constantly provide on this board.

I get tired of people asking questions then when you tell them what they need to investigate and what to discount as drivel you get garbage back the both of you have just posted. For the record NobBob I didn't saying anything about your Laguna P-Flux I also looked at the fan curves and they fall into the mediocre range under actual shop conditions just like all the other squat cone cyclones. I also do remember your wonderful replies from the past. You are right though I have had enough of this forum and what its turned into you won't here anymore sanctimonious replies from someone that actually does this work for a living.
