New Cordless Spraying Video: Fine Finish

What is the diffrence between ProShot 2 and TrueCoat Pro 2 ? The only diffrence I can see is a free repair kit comes with ProShot 2.                                                                                                                                        To To those using the coupon, it only notes; True Coat Pro 2 and True Coat Pro Fine Finish. Thanks.

Surprisingly little. The tipguard is a different shape, essentially.

My understanding of it is that the ProShot branded units are available exclusively in Sherwin Williams stores. The TrueCoat branded handhelds are sold through other channels of distribution.

If I were blindfolded, I would not be able to tell the difference in performance between the two.

I would not hesitate to purchase a TC under a coupon deal. It is in no way an inferior unit.

That was what I needed to know. Coupon printed. Now for a visit to Srerwin Williams. Thanks again.

Recommendation: Call first before visiting.  Not one of the Sherwin Williams (or Duron, either) stores around here has the TrueCoat Pro II in stock, either version.  Amazon may be your best bet, and don't forget to use the coupon linked earlier in this thread.

We usually end up doing a bunch of trial and error with HVLP. For each product, you can mess with reduction, tip size and your own technique to figure out what gives you the best results.

My advice to your friend would be to check out either the ProShot 2 or the TrueCoat Pro 2. They are very similar. The bottom line is that its best to get a model that has the pressure control system.

after experimenting a bit, the orange peel goes away with a 1.5MM tip, no reduction.

i ended up painting galvanized conduit this weekend with some BEHR primer/latex combo glop
that shot excellently with a 2.0 tip, unreduced. it was a consistency somewhere between
bondo, and pool gunite.  [unsure] so, it seems i can apply quite thick material with reasonable
success.

as many have said however, it's not gonna go fast.... however, i can apply finish well with this,
and something that has to be considered for the novice finisher is that there is no equipment
where i'm gonna come out ahead with something that is above my skill level to use, 'cause it's
faster.

and if i have to sand out blemishes in the finish and redo it a second time, well, the slowest
hvlp in the world is still faster than the fastest sandpaper.

thanks for taking the time to reply here.

Just got a Truecoat Plus II and this thing is bad ass ;) Had some spitting due to too low pressure but other than that, the fun was over too quickly...like Thanksgiving dinner if you've ever been the one to cook! Used it on some louvered doors and it was perfect. Was debating about using my airless Wagner to shoot these but the cleanup is a total PIA and thus these tools from Graco.

Gonna try to use these to salvage my kitchen that I can't quite afford to tear out and will try shooting a coat of paint on the inside.

Happy camper today!
