New Festool HKC 55 regular circular saw

Off topic - Assume you was at toolfair or similar show as there have been a few recently. Ive got a kapex in 110v its a great accurate saw but has many design flaws. In its 110v form even run off a 5kva tranny it no match for the firms dewalt (i think 712) run off a 3kva tranny in terms of power for cutting large section timber. With all my collection of tools ime really after a 1/4 router and the OF 1010 really needs a update or something completely new / system router.

Just annoyed as i would have postponed my mafell purchase untill seeing this saw. Also i recently bought the ts55 cordless and again my buying decision would have been affected.

Anyone know what the cost in the UK is going to be for this saw, compared to the TSC 55

It's a pure guess but it definitely looks like competition to the mafell which isn't cheap sadly. Will probably be priced more than the tsc55.

Another picture! i have already mailed my festool contact for price,, i will buy this asap!!

in many years i have prayed to the green god (hulk? [unsure]) that they will make a cordless saw (whitout plunge )and he listened!!! hallelulja!  the festool addiction will continue  [laughing]

Looks interesting and once you're into the Festool system for battery powered stuff it's a near no brainer for me.

A little off topic - when are we going to see something amazingly narrow and sharp from an innovator (near zero kerf)? Hacking out small lumps with a highly refine power tool is still only "hacking out lumps" [big grin]

Festool's weak point for me before was the limited range of cordless products (plus different battery versions) but little did I know that festool had these new tools lined up. Will be an exciting time in the next few years for the cordless range.

why keep it a secret, its a forum and ive spent my money on a mafell kss300 last year and a kss400 this year, so its festools loss. I did buy a ts55 cordless this year as well and i would have liked to have known about this, so hence i wont be buying it.

Not sure if this post was in response to mine, if it was then the reason to not mention it earlier is fairly straight forward in my mind at least.  Festool must invest a great deal in R&D and marketing,  I think it would be unfair to mention a new products details before the company makes a mention of it.

Ultimately we'd all like to know details of every new Festool being released to be able to plan future purchases, but ask yourself if you we're about to launch a product and someone spilled the beans to your customers as well as your competitors would you be pleased?

That's how feel about it, others may disagree.

Completely disagree.

Festool don't care about this sort of thing, as it's free marketing. Also I doubt members on this forum or who read about Festool tools on the internet makes up even 0.001% of Festool's customer base, so early mention on the forum/internet is utterly inconsequential.

I've heard the list price is £600 but that may be subject to change
It has a 50mm cut depth and is similar to the mafel ks300 but they may have been lying [scared]

Dint really think about this but i agree, probably not good to spread news whilst a product is in design stage and development, but might aswell when its going to be released soon, so yes its free marketing.

There are 3 new tracks to go with the HKC saw:
FSK 250, 420 and 670.
Numbers are length in millimeters.
I assume the prices below are incorrect.

Yup, when it's still on the drawing board and specs, etc not confirmed then pointless spreading "rumours" but at last pre-release satge, not really a problem. Some companies even intentionally "leak" specs/pics or if you're a well known phone/computer manufacturer actually leave the phones in popular coffee houses.

It was a bar...  And I only did it once and got my hand slapped for it.
:D

Cheers. Bryan.

a 50mm depth of cut puts it in the size range of a ts55 or the comparative mafell kss 400 36v cordless. The 300 is a much more compact saw

Nice ... a 250 rail that'll snug into a Systainer with the saw [wink]

Also something else to remember is the track length of 250,420 and 670 will be the length of cut of 50mm material. So thinner material you will be able to get a longer cut. On my kss400 you get 400 mm cutting length of 50mm material and when cutting 18mm material I get around 460mm with the blade at full depth

The following prices are published in Holland (incl.VAT):
HKC 55 Basic                         564636 €399
HKC 55 Li 5,2 EB Plus                 767690 €676
HKC 55 Li 5,2 EB Plus+FSK420 564624 €829
HKC parallel fence                      500464 €52
track FSK 250                         769941 €162
track FSK 420                         769942 €187
track FSK 670                         769943 €212
FSK 420 BAG                 200160    €61
FSK 670 BAG                 200161    €74
blade Ø160x1,8x20-W18            500458 €44
blade Fine Ø160x1,8x20-W32    500459 €72
blade Panther Ø160x1,8x20-PW12 500460 €60

Beware that the new HKC blades have a kerf of 1.8 mm, just like the ones from Mafell!
Thinner blades just cut better because there is less material to remove and it needs less power.
But the blades also gets dull sooner.
I assume that they also fit the TS/TSC saws, but then you have to renew the splinter guard on the tracks.

The FSK670 is a good length indeed. The 420 not so interesting for me. The 250 is too short.

I am happy with the KSS300 but I think the Festool HKC55 will have some appeal. Personally I still prefer a corded saw, both for ease of use with a vac and for longevity when chopping them boards to size...

I think the price for the FSK670 is way too much though!!!
