Any comments regarding a possible Kapex promotion? I have been trying to convince the wife that I need a new miter saw. Any promotion would be helpful!

Greg, nothing regarding any potential upcoming promotions has been communicated. Should there be a promotion, we will, as always, make sure we communicate it broadly for all.

Shane

Shane, you're tooling up to run for office aren't you, you're as sneaky as a politician LOL.

Disappointing for me; I bought a Kapex late Monday.

I would have waited; out $140.00. Ouch.

Great for others that might be on the fence though!

Return it under the 30 days, then buy another!

Purchased through Amazon as I don't have a dealer within 2 hours of me.

Although I haven't turned it on yet, I don't know what Amazon's return policy would be in this instance. I assume it isn't defective so no reason to return it as of yet.

I'll call them today. Maybe they would be willing to adjust the price.

It doesn't matter - Festool USA has a 30-day, no questions asked return policy. You don't need a 'reason' to return it. You might be out for the return postage, but for $140 surely it's worth it?

Not trying to be rude, but I think that with 11 days notice of a pending sale, trying to return a working and flawless item just to re-buy the same product at the sale price is VERY unethical.

If it happened enough, the manufacturers would just stop having sales. How much notice do you need?  I have purchased many items over the years that have gone on sale not long after I purchased them. I took my chances, and lived with it.  I think it's terribly disingenuous to assume that the manufacturers should match a sales period price for items purchased outside of the sale period. If that were the case, then the price would ALWAYS be the sale price.

Personally, if I was one of Festools Dealers, and I had customers that would return items for this purpose, I might just not have ANY items in stock the next time that customer wanted to order from me.

My opinion, and others may differ, but I think that crying over missing a sale, and attempting to bypass the sales timeline rules to get the special price by returning a working product is dishonest.

I appreciate what you're saying Frank, but if he'd posted that he'd got it from a 'regular' dealer rather than Amazon, my advice would have been to contact them and ask for a refund of the difference, or at least credit against some accessories. As Sean has said, he'd try to help a customer out like that, which I think is great.

Since it's through Amazon I assumed (possibly incorrectly) that that would have been a non-starter. I agree it's not really within the 'spirit' of the 30-day return, but it is within the rules that Festool themselves have set out.

Personally, I would feel very aggrieved if I'd just bought one, and in my financial situation it would definitely be worthwhile for me to return it, but that's just me.  [big grin]

PLEASE do not return you Kapex and then re-purchase. This is unnecessary and creates an inconvenience for you, hurts your dealer because of credit card transaction and other costs, and puts a perfectly good Kapex back in our inventory. Doing that will make it harder for us to justify conducting future promos.

Contact your dealer once the promo begins. If you have trouble, let me know and I will assist.

Nah, it's about trying to create an even playing field for our dealers.  [wink]

Thanks Sean and Shane for the information. I will contact Amazon after February 1st.

It's great to know Festool has this policy. It certainly takes away the potential for regret of missing a sale by a few days or a couple of weeks.

SittingElf,

I'm with you.  I've had numerous instances where I've bought something at Woodcraft, and then I get an email from them a short time later, saying they are having a 15% off sale.  I just write it up to not trying to see if I can figure out when they have their sales!  I do know that Woodcraft, Rockler, and many retailers have annual sales on major power tools, like Laguna, Jet and Powermatic.  I bought my Powermatic bandsaw and Laguna dust collector from Woodcraft during their annual sales. When I bought my dust collector, they did not have one in stock at the time, so they ordered one for me.  I was in no hurry for it, and when I went back to do some shopping for other items, I asked if it had come in yet.  It was delayed about a week, and I told them that was fine, just call me.  When I went in to pick it up, they gave me a 10-pack of the plastic disposable bags for it.  That was very much unexpected, and certainly appreciated.

Although I seldom buy tools at the big box stores, back before I was deciding everything had to be Festool, if at all possible, I bought a new 20V Porter Cable drill/driver set since the retail factory price had been reduced by about $50.  Two weeks later they had a sale on them.  I asked a clerk if they had a price guarantee, and they said it was 30 days, and offered immediately to give me a refund for the difference. I tend to shop at Lowe's over Home Depot if I need to go to a big box store.  Besides being friendlier (at least in my town), Lowe's also knocks off 5% if you use your Lowe's card for purchases.

I've been fortunate enough to have great local service, and not pushed when I missed a sale.  And I've also had great service from many of the internet sellers I've used -- I do try to mix it up a bit when I buy.

Shane, according to Festool's return policy, if I wait until Feb 1 to contact Amazon
re the Kapex that I received on the 20th, I would only be refunded the sale price, not what I paid for it. You are only refunded the lowest available retail price in effect during your 30 day return window. Also, how do I contact Amazon to see if they would refund the difference? There is no other remedy on their site short of returning the item.
i understand that Festool and Amazon would be hurt by this. Shouldn't Festool contact Amazon and try to work out something?

I would suggest contacting your dealer, in this case Amazon, and see what they say. Ultimately, the transaction is between the customer and dealer. Not the customer and Festool. I cannot speak on behalf of a dealer.

The problem is that I can find no way to contact Amazon. There is no email or phone info given. My only recourse is to return the item. That is why I think Festool should begin a dialogue with them and see if a solution is available.
