New Festool Stuff discovered !

This are new to! Limited ratchet Systainer!  [big grin]

Judging by the shape of the handle these are probably produced by FELO.
FELO, WERA and WIHA have all produced Festool branded bits and hand tools in the past.
Personally I prefer the WIHA handles, but the quality of the tools of all 3 brands is very high I find.

Annoying that the phone charger USB output is limited to 5V@2.4A. My TS80 soldering iron needs QC3.0 with a minimum 9V@2A, but it would have been great to be able to power that from a Festool battery.

I get that for phones, 2.4A is fine for charging, and that's what this is designed for - but it would make it so much more flexible if it had a high powered QC or even PD output.

Speaking of US Market - I wonder how long before we'd get the new rail connectors and that hold down(if they are coming here).
Seems like it's several months to a year after we hear about stuff in Europe before it shows up in the US.

I've thought about picking up the new TSC and switching back to Festool for tracks, but the current rail connectors are a big detractor.
Quickly and accurately joining rails is one of the reasons I like the Mafell/Bosch system better.

A few people mentioned the Aerofix.  It's a really cool method for sticking rails to your work, but I don't think it would be a good option for vertical surfaces.  For the rails to stick, the vacuum has to be on.  Plus, you have the saw connected to the Aerofix by a hose.
Sounds a lot more cumbersome than the FS rail with some sticky strips.  Line up the splinter guide and slap the rail on the wall.

The slots on the new rails let you hang them on adhesive clips on the wall or transport over a systainer handle.

There's new self aligning guide rail connectors, a new guide rail angle attachment as well.

Thanks for that Matt...I saw a photo of the new rails and wondered about the slots. The new rail connector reminds me of the Mafell version.

About those new slots in the racks:  We could also use them to hang our racks on the wall, similar to the FastCap Stabila level rack accessory (https://www.fastcap.com/product/level-rack )

Mafell has a different target customer and not one who wants one with 1000's of accessories. Plus those taken aback with Festool prices will be taken farther aback with Mafell pricing. I have several of their tools and am happy with all of them. For US customers there is only one distributor and they do not honor the 3-year warranty offered by Mafell in the UK/EU.  I do not have the Aerofix, but have eyed it up. There is no question that the Mafell rail design is superior to Festool with regard to the connector. I realize there are aftermarket gadgets that make connecting less hit or miss, however they will never match Mafell's unless they are redesigned.

I'd encourage anyone to try out their saws and rail system.

1. Ya but with the Mafell Aerofix system, you're not relying on the pad strips for gripping, you're relying on the vacuum created by the dust collector. That's probably 10X the grip exerted by the foam strips. If truth be told, it's probably greater than if the rail was clamped down with traditional clamps as the clamps secure the rail in localized areas whereas the vacuum secures the rail along its entire length.

2. There is no "other suction point" the suction is continuous along the entire length of the Mafell rail. There's no need to hold an end of the rail up.

Thanks, did not search for videos so /incorrectly/ assumed it is a point system only. Looks really good. Now it makes total sense why they did not really bother with the anti-slip pads that much. Strange is not mentioned anywhere even during the saw reviews.

Maffel (and Bosch) could really do with some proper marketing. I have seen all kinds of reasons why the Maffel track system is "better" yet none was really convincing until this one. A proper "killer" feature.

Well, some grass might always be greener somewhere else, but at what cost? I'm not gonna buy a Mafell saw and rails and then having to carry around two different types of rail. My jigsaw, my track saw, my routers, the LR-32 set; all use the same Festool rail. I don't see Mafell offering anything to compete with the OF 1010 or OF 1400, so their saw be damned.

Same went in reverse for me with the battery powered stuff. Festool had nothing to offer like Bosch had with the GSR 18v-60 and it's anti-kickback function. Using the hole saw above your head in ceilings... that function is awesome.

They are self stick, but I wonder if you can use them only once to temporarely fix the rail or if you can also use them to hang the rail on the wall and take it on and off.

the Mafell works perfectly on the Festool rail. You just have to remove a spacer on the bottom of the foot.

It is in Russian and from Russians. Though the vids are from last year.

That said, suspended operation != is forbidden to sell to != does not sell to != goods cannot be resold to. You get the point.

Most likely they shut their representation so any Russian dealers are "cut off" from the /official/ support path. So it would be done the old way, before internet and before SWIFT and the likes. A guy with a case full of ... flies to Istanbul and buys stuff from someone who came with a container from Germany. Or, actually, a Turkish merchant handles this for a 1-2% fee. The Wolf has eated while The Sheep (Festool rep) is whole. Plus the Turks get their economy propped up a bit.

The same way US now gets their cut from Russian shipments of gas to Europe payment for which will be the used to buy Festool kit through the Turks /or others/.

Festool suspended operation from March 2022, video from 2021. Video from Aslan, he speaking in Russian, but living in France for a long time, and Roadshow from France. Festool has not held an roadshow in Russia since 2019.

Right now in Russia no official supplies, no Festool warranty registration, only grey market.
