New HKC55 order...

I’ve been eyeing an HKC55 for a while. I was pretty excited to discover that there is actually a new version coming out with the Bluetooth batteries (I usually find I order just before the new thing is announced).  I’m pretty convinced that I want the battery version over the corded, for the times where the flexibility to be away from dust collection is helpful. Feel free to talk me out of that, but everything I’ve read seems to indicate I’d be happy with it. I assume I’d want to get the dust collection bag as an accessory.
My questions are whether to get the 250 rail vs the 420. I understand the 420 has a greater range and therefore “more flexibility” if I’m only going to own one rail. However, I’m thinking of this as a miter saw replacement and I tend to cut a lot of 2x/smaller stock. Would I prefer the ease and control of the smaller rail and then get a longer TS rail out when needed?
Also, I know the new MW1000 is out at the same time, and I’ve been thinking about it too. Typically, you can get 10% off a vac or MFT with tool order. Has anyone seen an offer of 10% off the MW1000 with tool order?  I’m assuming it will be offered, but websites aren’t updated yet.

Thanks,
Guy

I have an HKC.  I've used it regularly for nearly two years.  IMO battery is the only way to go.  I have the 420 and 640 rails.  I seldom use the 640 rail.  The 420 is too long to wield around easily on a lift or scaffold;  I'd really like to have the 250 rail as I think it would do nicely for 2x material that I so often cut.  I'm thinking the 250 and 640 are the way to go.

Make sure you get the panther and 36 tooth blades for your saw.  Then make sure you always use the right blade for the task at hand.  Festool has made it so easy to change blades there is no reason not to.  There are days when I change the blade repeatedly to get the results and performance I'm after.

I also purchased an HKC when they came out in 2016. I like it a lot. I use it with the bag outside and am happy with the dust collection. It works surprisingly well considering the open blade guard.

I purchased the 420 track but wish I would have gone with the 250 track instead. It also works well on the standard FS guide rails once you set the blade offset

I am finishing up some laminate flooring in my closets...had been using a miter saw for this but picked up the HKC...have the 420 rail....thought it would be a bit more versatile.  It is a dream using this saw...and even the blade that comes with the saw does an excellent job on the laminate crosscutting.

I am very pleased with my purchase.  Can see where, with scaffold/ladder work, the shorter rail is the way to go.
