New kapex and bigger diameter hose.

Decided to bite the bullet this week and buy a Kapex as my old Dewalt is struggling.
I will be using it in people's homes so looking to maximise dust collection (I am realistic - I know there will still be dust regardless) and know using the larger 36mm dia hose is an improvement on the standard 27mm that came with my CTL Midi.

Looking online though I see there are normal and anti-static versions available, are there any real world advantages to one over the other?
Also I'm looking to run as short a hose length as possible but I see there are different versions of the 36mm hose available. Basically this 36mm hose will be solely for Kapex, maybe TS55 if it's flexible enough but I'll probably stick with my 27mm hose for that.
It looks as though there is a 36/36 hose available and a 36/32...which is the one best suited to sole Kapex use, maybe occasional TS use as well?

Thanks.

If you want a dedicated Kapex hose then Bob Marino offers a 5.5ft 36mm AS hose. I don't like using the 36 with the TS. Too cumbersome. But 5.5ft would be too short for TS use.

I have not tried this, but I would be tempted to try a short run of 50mm hose for indoor living space Kapex use. Not sure how much improved over the 36 that might be but it seems like there must be some improvement.

That shorter hose looks perfect but I live in the UK, don't think Bob Marino ships over here. Anyone know if these are available anywhere in the UK?

Looking online and I'm thinking of buying a 3.5m 36mm hose and cutting it in half and making a dedicated Kapex hose.
I see 2 versions available, a 36/36 hose and a 36/32...what's the difference between the 2, is one 2 female ends and one a male/female??

I have a non anti static hose on my Kapex and works fine, don't think the anti static are worth the price difference. The non anti static are more flexible then the anti static also.

Some people buy one of the cleaning kits that come in I think a sys 5 to get a 36mm hose then sell off the other bits, makes it cheaper. Sure someone will chime in and tell you which one.

Thanks Doug. :-)
Anyone know if the 27mm hose that come with the Midiis anti-static or not?

Yes, it is the anti-static hose. All Festool vacs come with the anti-static hose.

I use the MR Nozzles hoses on my chopsaws, you can find the hose end numbers on their website and buy the ends from Amazon.

Feeling a bit flush after selling my spindle moulder I bought a number of Festool items including a 5 m long 36 mm hose plus some spare ends. From this I made up a short piece for the Kapex and keep the longer piece for the TS55 and for doing workshop clean-ups.

The 36 mm hose does work well with the TS 55 provided you have a sky hook - I have several bungees attached to the ceiling and this works really well.

As Doug mentioned, I decided to go for the cleaning kit and just cut the hose to use on my kapex. Keeping enough so that I could still use the cleaning kit comfortably.

I believe the kit is called 'Festool Tradesman Cleaning Set'.

I bought the Bosch hose (#2 in zxcv's message above) and cut it roughly in half.  Works great at a fraction of the Festool price.
